Hi Robman,

Once again, I really appreciate the help. Smile

I guess this is what you wanted.

Download from remote using no RDF file.

Have you tried doing a 981 reset on the remote and then doing a download? I don't know what it is about these BJ5 remotes, but you're not the first person to have problems with them. The guys at UEI say that while there has been a firmware change, it should be anything that affects how the data downloads, so I don't know what to suggest.

If this model os on sale at Best Buy now, maybe I'll get one to see what I can do with it.

Hi Robman,

This one I bought off of Ebay.

I just picked up another one few minutes ago @ BB. (it also says URC9960B01 on the back). Now I have 2 to experiment with.

As far as the reset, I tried, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it correct.
I hold down Setup and enter setup mode. Then hit device setup to get the number pad to illuminate, then key in 981. I really don't see that it is doing anything.
----------------------------------------
Edit: I wasn't pressing "other" before entering reset code. It just reset. I'm gonna hookup the JP1 cable and see if it makes any difference.

OK,

After doing the reset, it downloaded from the remote. Very Happy

I'm still getting error messages when tring to do an uprade to the remote. It seems like I need to keep resetting all the trime Confused

I'll keep experimenting.

Update,

I have been having pretty much the same trouble and error messages with the second remote.
What seems really strange is that I have not been able to download from this second remote yet, but I did manage to program it with one device upgrade file.
I was using the JP5 RDF file, and although I did get error messages, the upgrade for 1 device did work.

I did get one read from the remote, right after it took the upgrade.
I don't know if this means anything.....

Those dumps look pretty standard, in fact the second one even has an upgrade for CBL/1717 in it, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. I wonder if they changed something in the hardware.
