Radio Shack 15-2133 Display Dimming out..

I have a Radio Shack 15-2133 who's display has started acting up??

The row of controls for the motion controls "Play Stop..etc" have started only displaying at about 50% brightness?!?

I really hate to purchase a new remote.. but...

Any ideas of how to fix? And it is not low batteries...
