Ok, I'll cry "uncle,"
After several days of learning some of the basics of JP1, IR.exe, and Remotemaster, I finally have my system working--almost. I have a Sony Receiver str-de445, and am trying to operate the "Input Mode" button from my remote. I found a message board on RemoteCentral with a note that gives the following as a "IR" code for the input. How the heck do I use this with RM, IR, or IRTool to load it into my RS 15-2117 remote? Please Help!

That signal is in Sony's Control-A1 protocol. See this web site for info about that:

I've never taken a good look at the JP1 support for Control-A1, but there is some support. Other experts know more about it. Other threads discuss it.
I don't know much about Sony Receivers. Are you sure the command you want can't be done using the simpler Sony protocol (documented here)?

Are you sure you can't just use the "device select" IR codes?
In the newer Sony receivers, they function as discrete on + input select.
For example VCR button on the remote will execute discrete on and
select the VCR input. |

Thanks for the swift replies,
Unfortunately, I've tried all the "Sony protocol" codes found at ttp://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_rcvr.htm, to no avail. I'm not yet familiar with the discrete on + input, method, but will be sure to research. Likewise the Control-A1 input--Thanks for the tip.
Is there no way to convert the above code something I can load with IR.exe? |

There is an input mode toggle in the regular Sony receiver codes, device 144, command 48 (I'm assuming this is AV1 mode). You can put this into RM. If you need discretes, you'll have to get someone to modify the sound field protocol to send the discrete input mode commands. |
