keymoves and keynames

Post by ellobob13 »

With my 6131 I can use a keyname to make a keymove (Using IR 6)
With my 15-2133 there is no radio button for keyname in the keymove dialog so I have to use the hex or EFC

Am I missing something or is this just the way things are?

It's just the way things are.

Specifying it in EFC/Hex vs. Key code result different behavior, though.

When you use EFC or Hex, you are specifying the IR command code. Then, the key mappings in the base device upgrade won't affect anything to the key move. You even don't have to have any key assignment in the device upgrade at all.

On the other hand, if you specify a key code, the device upgrade MUST have the key defined in order for the key move to work. If you change the function assignment in the device upgrade later, what the key move does will change, too.

15-2133 and most other remotes don't have the second "feature", and that's why IR.exe is not showing the choice.
