Macro/Keymove problem

Hi, I hope someone can give me a few pointers as to where I'm going wrong.

I am setting up a HTPC system and using a URC-6131 JP1 remote and an Airboard IR keyboard to control it all. I have created a macro on the JP1 remote to send the Airboard protocol CTRL+ESC keypresses to turn on the PC with the remote control. This macro is asigned to the Shift+Move button and works fine so I know the protocol and macro are all ok.

However, I now want to have that macro executed when I press the POWER button when in the PVR device (which is the device that controls the HTPC software via Girder). Now this is the part that I am having a problem with. I have tried setting up a keymove to call the macro when the power button is pressed but it just won't work. I know it's something I am overlooking or not fully understanding so I would appreciate some guidence please.

I have uploaded the IR file to the diagnosis file section so you can all have a good laugh at my mistakes :D

Thanks for any help

What a keymove will do it take an EFC value from the button used as input but not execute that button. What you want is to be able to put the macro on the Power button. However, I don't think an un-extended 6131 will take a macro on the Power button or at best the macro will run no matter what device you are in.

It wasn't clear to me what you were trying to do if it was not to run the macro so if what you want to do is run a single command from the power button just put the efc on the power button via the keymove.

What I am trying to acheive is to run the macro when I press the power button, but only when in PVR device mode. As you quite rightly say, if I just asign the macro to the power button (if this is even possible) then the macro would run no matter what device I was in.

What you need is either the Device Specific Macro (DSM) or Long/Double Key Press (LDKP) protocol but neither is available without installing the extender for the 6131. You may want to take a look at the readme file for the 6131 extender then also look at how to install it with IR to see if you want to go that route

If you're not using an extender, you will need to use the DSM (Device Specific Macro) special protocol.

Thanks all,

I have got an extender running on my 8810 and I was looking at the IR file for that one to try to get some clues to my problem and I saw DSM mentioned in the device button column for a couple of the keymoves but didn't know what it was. It was about a year ago that I set the 8810 up and have forgotten everything I learned then.

The Robman: Are you saying that you can have the DSM protocol without the extender installed because this seems to conflict with what Nils_Ekberg is saying.

Anyway, I shall definately give the extender a go.

Many, many thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys
