Panasonic DMR E85 and RS-15-2116

Has anyone succeeded in programming the RS-15-2116 remote to operate CONVENIENTLY the Panasonic DVR Dmr-e85? The original remote has more (nicely labeled) buttons than the 2116, so without using HIST etc. it is hard to trasfer the functions of the nicely designed original DVR remote to the 2116.
