Problem with Motorola DCT6200 & OFA Remote

Post by mawenzi »

I have a Motorola DCT6200 HD Cable Box from Comcast and a One For All (OFA) URC-9910. I am using the remote code 0476, but cannot get the remote to work reliably. If I press the buttons very slowly on the remote (2-3 seconds pause in between), the remote will control the cable box half the time. If I press the buttons normal, it doesn't work at all.
The URC-9910 is brand new and seems to work fine with a Toshiba DVD player.

Any advice?

Thanks

I called OFA and they programmed code 1376 into the remote over the phone. It worked better, but not acceptable. I finally had to build a shroud with tin foil over the emitter and the Motorola.

With the new code and the tin foil, it works about 80% now. If you want an exact replacement for the Motorola remote to go through walls, you are pretty much out of luck without a signifigant investment in hardwired IR distribution and/or JP1 coding.

Reading your 2nd post it sounds like you are having this issue when you use the URC-9910's base unit, do you also have the same problem when you use the remote directly without the base unit?
