Panasonic PT-50LC14 discrete HDMI

Post by TheBobman »

Has anyone had any luck with this? I found lexluthor's post(below), but this did not seem to work for me. Just wanted to check to see if anyone had any luck.

I'm sure you understand this, but it wouldn't be simply assigning EFC 157 in TV/0250 since the command in your link uses subdevice 4.

Also if you have any discrete input commands then a macro for video 4 and video toggle n number of times will generally get you to a reliable higher input. IIRC, some of the Panasonic HDTV displays don't have any discrete inputs so you start with a Ch+ command that takes you to tuner and then n video toggles. Video 1 through 4 are available using TV/0250, IF, the set responds to them. Those commands can be found here.

I have never seen a case where Panasonic used any other commands for Video 1-4, but not all sets respond to them. For the component inputs/DVI/DIM they seem to be less consistent.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I tried the 157 thing, many different ways, but the set did not respond. I was just attempting to see if my experiences matched others. If any have had success with this panny series, or the dlp series, which should be the same, please let me know. Otherwise, I will have to go the channel + route, as the video input did not work either.

I can't tell from your answer if you understood Jon's answer. Did you create a JP1 upgrade where the main device code code was 128, the sub-device code was 4, and the EFC assigned to the button was 157? If you did all of that and your set didn't respond, then it doesn't support this function.

Yes, I did indeed do that. In fact, as a test, I created a new IR file with only that info. No reaction.

My guess is that it doesn't respond to discrete input commands. If you use an extender, they execute macros so fast that you probably will not see the input changes and it may be quite satisfactory. Make sure that concept works before you invest the time in writing macros and changing to an extender.

Yes, seems that way. Wrote that tonite. The only annoying thing is a had to program in a pause between steps because the TV couldn't keep up. Annoying, but better than the way it was before....
