Nope, those sold out a long time ago, all the 8811s that I have now are red.

Hi Rob.

The remotes I ordered in march are working great, I can't believe how flexible they are, I want more.

How many 6131 and 8811 can I combine for $9 shipping to Sweden(Europe)?

Do you still have JP1 cables?

Thanks
Joni Borén.

That's a good question, I just had to try fitting the remotes into a box to find out. I can fit 4 URC-8811s into the box or 5 URC-6131s (without manuals). And yes, I do still have JP1 cables, but obviously I won't be able to fit as many remotes into the box if there are cables in there too.

I just checked the ultra slim URC-6131n and I can squeeze 7 of them (very tightly) into one box!

Hmm,

Maybe 3x URC-6131, 1x URC-8811 and 2x JP1 cables?

How much for the cables?

Thanks
Joni Borén.

I think that combo will fit, I'll check it later. The cables are $15, so your total would be $134. If you need to pay by credit card through Paypal, the surcharge on that would be $6 bringing the total to $140.

Rob, I have a 9911 that I have working very nicely, unfortunately the back panel is busted, so tape is currently holding it on. I would like to get a replacement, but cannot find one in London, Ontario. I would like to get a 8811 to replace this (I don't care about the LCD at all), could you email me to let me know that you still have one.

Rob, in another forum I advised himachal to get an 8811 and a JP1 cable because Fortec Star devices seem to vary seriously from one model to another and I don't have specific data on the Ultra FTA. With both learning and JP1 he would have all the resources that might be required no matter what the Ultra FTA turns out to be.

Of course if you have a better idea about what a Fortec Star Ultra FTA is (and all his other devices) you MIGHT want to suggest a less powerful alternative. I don't think an interesting dollar savings vs. 8811+JP1 is likely, but there is also size and button labels to consider.

I would second John's recommendation that you get a URC-8811 ($20) and a JP1 cable ($15). Postage to Canada will be $4.

Now, just so you understand, the remote will not be ready to work all of your devices out of the box, the expectation is that you would use the remote's learning feature to capture the signals from your devices and then use the JP1 tools to create upgrades for them (unless, of course, if we have upgrades for any of them already that you can use).

I need to buy some replacement remotes (I have RCU-810s that I modified myself) and would rather buy them already modified instead of doing it myself.

My 810's reset themselves regularly (clock resets, backlight stops working, etc). Do the new ones still have this issue? or should I consider changing to the 8811? They seem like similar remotes - are they?

In general, I've been pretty happy with the 810, but is the 8811 generally regarded as better or worse? Mostly controlling a Tivo, stereo, TVs, satellite, etc so I assume either would do a sufficient job (nothing too unusual).

Thanks!

I've never seen the RCU810 reset problem myself, so I can't say for certain whether the units that I have have this problem or not (these are new units that haven't been used), but none of the previous people who bought them mentioned having the problem, so you're probably safe.

For your current units that do have the reset problem, there is a way to fix it. All you need to do is jumper pin 1 to pin 5 (on the JP1 6-pin).

You can get the full details here...
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=532

As for comparing the RCU810 to the URC-8811, the URC-8811 is a popular remote and can do everything the RCU810 can do, but it doesn't have an LCD screen and the layout of the buttons is completely different to the RCU810, so if you're already used to the RCU810 you might as well stick with it as it can also do everything that the URC-8811 can do (when JP1 enabled).

I think I have 3 or 4 RCU810s left, my price is $20 without the mod or $30 with the mod.

I've just received some more remotes to offer for sale, including the URC-8910 (with arrow keys), URC-6960 (Kameleon and URC-9960 (Kameleon). I will be modifying the Kameleons so they are JP1 ready for you.

Rob:

Are you going to be getting in and modifying any of the Kameleon 9964's? I'm not sure I will need the RF functionality, but I figured better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I'm trying to run a

Toshiba Theaterview TV
Scientific Atlanta DVR Cable Box
JVC Amplifier
LG VCR/DVD Combo Recorder

Also is the Kameleon a good choice for this setup, or would there be something better to look at? My old 8080B01 is pretty banged and scraped, so I'm thinking it might be time for something new, and the Kameleon's looks are pretty nice.

I don't have any immediate plans to get any of the RF Kameleons in stock.

Rob,

How much for the 9960, modified, or unmodified?

I currently have:

Toshiba TV (not HD)
Sony DVD/VCR SLV-D560P combo
Pioneer DSX608 Receiver

Is the 9960 a good solution for controlling these devices?
