If you'll be using a credit card to fund the transaction, yes. If you'll be using a bank account to fund it, use bank@hifi-remote.com

@ Yuu,
I can probably fix your URC-9911. It might be as simple as replacing the button sheet or I might need to fix some of the traces on the PCB. If it's worth $20 to you to have it fixed, I'll fix it for you.

How do I go about getting this to you?

I don't have any USB cables, so you would need to buy a cable from Tommy. The cheapest learning remote that I have is the URC-8820 at $19. If you get this remote, you would need a JP1.2/3 (Flash) cable from Tommy.

You should also consider getting an IR Widget instead as your total cost would be cheaper.

Hi Robman,

I'm new to JP1 theory, so apologies if this is a noob question...

I realise jp1 compatible remotes can have the codes changed to match a users equipment. that aside...

if i bought a remote from you in the states to work my equipment here in the uk, would it all work fine once the correct codes were put in?

(IR & RF)

I'm just figuring out the start up prices as i need to buy a cable anyway & my kameleon is quite old now... for $35 - $40 including cable + shipping, there not bad prices ^^

thanks

Hi Josh,
The beauty of JP1 is that no matter how old your remote is, as long as it still works you can keep on using it. The JP1 remote that I use everyday is a 15-1994 which came out in 1999, so it's much older than your URC-8060 Kameleon.

So yes, as long as you load in the right upgrades for your equipment, the remote will work for you, even if you're in the UK and the remote is from the US.

The URC-8060 is a bit more tricky than most because of how they configured the opening to the battery compartment. You can't solder pins onto the pads because they will block the batteries, and you can't put batteries in the remote with the battery door open. We invented a pogo pin adapter and a special Kameleon adapter to get around these issues, but I don't think anyone still sells them. You might be better off soldering a small ribbon cable onto the pads with a 6-pin connector on the end. Hopefully there would be enough room under the battery door to hide it away when you're using the remote.

If you want a new remote instead, I could sell you a URC-8811 with cable for $62.50 USD shipped. (that's about £43 GBP)

URC-8811 = $30
parallel or serial cable = $20
shipping = $12.50

You also mentioned RF, you can't control RF devices with a universal remote.

Hi Robman,

thanks for the reply...

I'm just considering my options, as 1 cable for the kameleon wont work with all remotes & i don't want to get the kameleon working right to change it 2 weeks later lol...

I'm quite handy with soldering etc & have ribbon cables etc kicking around, along with idc header pins.. didnt think about the batteries though, on the kameleon that's quite an issue rofl...

thanks
