I have created an upgrade for the Philips 30PW862H widescreen HDTV and uploaded it into the yahoo files area. Enjoy...

Hi Todd,

I am having problems using the upgrade; most likey due to my inexperience with JP1.

My problem is that I can not produce a valid protocol ID within keymap master. I enter the parameters as in the upgrade file:

Devices:,RC-5,0,100,3

But I don't know how to enter these:

Manual:,,0 = 1-byte,LSB-COMP,86,NO

And this is how this part looks in KM;

Protocol ID: ## ##
Fixed Data: FF D9 3F
Manual Settings
Enter PID: RC-5
2nd Cmd Byte: None
Signal Style: LSB-COMP
Bits/Dev: 3
Bits/Cmd: 8

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the file!

You open upgrade files by using the LOAD button on KM's Setup sheet. There's no need to re-enter any of the info.

Something may be wrong with my set up because after loading the file and selecting the remote the parameters are not filled in automatically.

A "code" is not produced and I get an error after I load the file and specify the remote:

Filename: Philips_30PW862H_widescreen_HDTV-tf_ver2.txt
*** Unsupported or unrecognized Protocol ***
Enter Device Codes and/or Raw Fixed Data (hex). Enter the Protocol ID and set the options in the Manual Settings table. Use the Notes section to enter any 3rd-Party Protocol Code.

On the protocol ID section I get:

Invalid Protocol ID

Upgrade Protocol 0 = ## ## (S3C8+) (KM v8.31)
Code cannot be calculated...
End

This happens in two different PCs.

Cheers,

I'm able to open the file without any problems, so you might be doing something wrong. The upgrade is using the standard RC-5 protocol and should be useable on any remote. What remote are you trying to select? Are you following the correct procedure for loading the file in KM? How did you save the file to your local hard drive?

Thanks Mark for taking a moment to look at this.

This is where I may be doing something wrong. It is saved to my HD as a .txt file. I just save it straight from the link to my desktop.

I am using an 8910 and load the file using the load button on the spreadsheet.

Thanks!

That might explain the problem. The best thing to do is right-click the link and then select Save Target As...

If that's what you did, then there's something else wrong, but I don't know what it would be. Have you opened any other upgrade files or is this your first attempt?

Got it. Its a browser difference! If I save the file from IE it works fine. Initially, I was using Firefox in both computers.

On further inspection there are extra underscores in the Firefox saved files.

Thanks!
