Soldering Iron Tips

Does anyone know where I can get a supply of soldering iron tips like the Radio Shack 64-2052? The RS price is just $0.99 but they're usually out of it or just have 1 or 2 in stock. I want to use these with a 15w Radio Shack iron.

The closest I could find at Jameco is the 16774 (pic below), but it costs $6.95 each.

Or... Are you saying the information is bogus? Yeah, I know sometimes it is. If that's the case, I might be able to check some local RS stores and Fry's in my area. How many of them are you looking for?

Rob,
0.99 is a great price for a tip. The usual is about 5-10 bucks. Why do you need so many tips, though? Maybe the price is so low because the quality is, too? I use an iron every day for many jobs and a tip lasts me quite a while (months, usually). Tinning the tip before storage seems to work to prevent oxidation.

If you need a good place for a lot of styles of tips/irons, then try Jensen Tools/Contact East or Techni-Tool. They usually have a LOT more than the Mouser, Digi-Key, Jameco, Allied type of businesses. The focus is different.

$.99 is a great deal on tips, I use a Hakko soldering iron and tips are about $8.00 a piece. You can have Radio Shack order stuff and have it sent to your nearest store for no charge. It's an option on thier website. Why would you need more than say 2 or 3 tips? Hope that helps.

can you tell me what tip i need for this? i dont know the size and other info i would like a more of a needle tip the original one if you happen to know..

Do you "recondition" your tips?

I've found that it works pretty well to put a tip in a drillpress and use a file to reshape it down to bare copper.

Then immediately tin them before the copper has a chance to pick up any surface oxidation.

You can do the same for chisel tips with a small belt sander.
