URC-9962 BJ3 Crash...

I've been using IR to upload my configuration via modem without an issue in past but recently received my JP1 so I figured I'd try it out...

I downloaded my current configuration via the JP1 and saved it. I then modified my key layout a bit to test the thing out and re-uploaded. I didn't recieve any error upon sending but my remote is pretty screwed up.

IF the display turns on, EVERY button is lit and when I try to press a button it turns off.

I've tried re-uploading my original settings but the remote acts the same.

It appears to take the upload but the thing is messed up.

As the buttons do not light and the thing is generally wacky, I cannot do a reset via the buttons so what do I do???

Did I just destroy my 99$ CDN remote??

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Low batteries?

Assuming it's not that, did you do a download and save to a PC file of the eeprom image before you started messing with it? Maybe you can fix things by restoring that.

Anyway, it's unlikely to be physical damage. Once you figure out what should be in the eeprom to make it work, it will probably be easy to put that in the eeprom (if IR.EXE actually messed things up, it's probably due to a wrong rdf file and one of the other experts can help you figure that out).

I did save a backup and did try uploading that back but to no avail. The remote is still 'wacky'

Have you tried doing a 981 reset, then re-loading your backup file?

He said the remote is too sick to even get to things like 981 reset. That's why I suspected a problem with the batteries.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses so far.. I've tried a brand new set of batteries to no avail.

Any other ideas for me or am I s.o.l? :(

Thanks!

I can't think of anything. If you come up empty with online suggestions, I'd be happy to take a look at it. Postage from the US to Canada is $4, so it's not too expensive, but I can't promise I'll find the problem.

I'm going to keep playing with it for another day or two but if that fails I'll send it your way.

I'll let you know, thanks!

Ok then, it must have been the cheap batteries I was using. Had a brand new pack of 12 maxell batteries and it experienced the same symptoms through numerous battery changes. I, just as a last resort, went out and bought a set of Duracells and VOILA!

What a weird remote this thing is..

Thanks everyone
