JP1 Remotes

Any thoughts on good remotes to control a Directv(Tivo), with all of the additional buttons. I have a 15-1994 with JP1 that is okay, but I am done with having buttons assigned that are not easy to decifer - Everybody is confused when they try to run my equipment. I am looking at the URC-6131 JP1 modded, that has the Tivo buttons, but was wondering if there's anything a bit nicer, but still not too costly. Maybee something with some LCD functionality.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I've got a 15-1994, a 15-2116, and 5 (FIVE!) modified URC-6131s if that tells you something.

The button layout on the 6131 is the best I've found if you need to interface to a TiVo or DirecTiVo. Might be slightly less "optimal" for another brand DVR.

I've got one for each TV room, plus spares, plus I just modded 3 more for a friend to give to his family as Christmas presents.

I DO like the LCD and backlighting on the 2117, so that would be my second choice, but as long as there will be other people using my system, the buttons need to be intuitive.

Now if URC made a 6131 with backlighting.... I'd probably wet myself. Smile

I think you know what the answer is. UEI designed the URC-6131 specifically with Tivo in mind, while personally I wish they'd made it a little bit more ReplayTV-centric! Smile

Having said that, the 15-1994 is by far my favorite JP1 remote and it's still the one I use to work my ReplayTV-system.
