Pronto to IR.exe

Post by JohnL88 »

I recently installed both the IR.exe (5.15) and Keymap-Master programs and have beginner’s knowledge of both. The online documentation has been extremely helpful. I recently noticed that Pronto has a ton of configurations I can use for my equipment that are not available elsewhere. I downloaded the ccf2efc.zip file but I’m not really sure what to do next. Is there any documentation (or a post) that can help me get started? I've been searching around the forums but can't seem to find anything.

Thanks in advance!

Use DecodeCCF.exe instead of ccf2efc.

ccf2efc is mainly obsolete, but kept around because there are a few situations in which an expert may want its more verbose output.

DecodeCCF has many advantages, including more understandable output.

The .zip for DecodeCCF includes a readme file (ReadMe_DecodeCCF.txt) which has the instructions for using it and interpreting the output.

Also, I'd recommend that you use version 6.00 RC3 of IR.exe instead of 5.15

Thanks for the quick response. I'll download DecodeCCF right now and give it a shot.

Rob -- concerning 6.00 RC3. When I first downloaded and ran 5.15, it worked perfectly. When I downloaded 6.00 RC3, the application gave me the following message:

Unable to initialize drivers for any JP1 interface. Drivers for at least one interface must be able to load in order for IR to communicate with your remote.

Parallel/Serial Error: (mine is parallel)
The file "gwiopm.sys must be located in the same drive as your operating system. If you want to use IR from another drive, you should copy that file into your Windows or System directory. Please make sure you have Admin rights. [I did try to move this file to the C:/Windows and directory and it didn't seem to have an effect]

Not sure how to fix it. 5.15 worked great in the mean time -- I thought when I increased my knowledge level of the application then go back and try to figure out what was wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks again for the help.

John
