1. I have many different devices hooked up to my Sony TV through various inputs. I'm trying to do macros on the device keys that set up the whole works so that device is showing. Unfortunately, there is only a tv/video button...Not a video 2 or video 3 button. If I program a keypress of the tv/video button there will be no way of ensuring that the tv will be showing the proper input. Any thoughts?
2. I have a sony str-de685 receiver and I can't locate remote codes that work for it...any ideas?
3. I have multiple jp1 remotes (I'm test driving many to find the one I want to buy for all of the rooms in the house) I seemed to have jacked up the RS 15-2103 how do I reset it?
Thank you so much for your time...I've really learned a ton from this forum already.

Re: Noobie with questions
There are discrete codes for most, if not all, of the inputs of this TV, check the advanced code list on my site.paully_21 wrote:1. Most of the Sony audio upgrade files in the file section will work this, just be aware of whether you have yours set to AV1 or AV2. You can find the complete list of SOny codes here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/paully_21 wrote:2. I have a sony str-de685 receiver and I can't locate remote codes that work for it...any ideas?

RE:1 Some of the advanced TV codes http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/ueic.cgi?TV_0000 can be a little difficult to interpret from the list. For instance there are two labeled "TV". EFC 113 is a discrete "ON" while EFC 243 is a discrete switch to antenna input (EFC's 034 , 030 , 032 , etc are discrete video inputs). The http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/ is more complete with better labeling but you might need to convert the OBC codes to EFC's.
RE: 2 (Once you find the codes or build an upgrade) you might not realise it but you can turn it on to the desired input with a single command. For instance EFC 124 will turn it on and select DVD input (most models) with a single IR signal. The AV1/AV2 switching is performed as follows> " For the STR-DE485/685 models Press the SET UP button then press the cursor buttons (< or>) to select COMMAND MODE. Then turn the jog dial to select AV2." Or AV1 as desired.
Most of the digits in Sony model numbers have meaning. The first number is the level of features (higher = more advanced) the last two usually indicate model years or basic design ; 435 - 535 - 635 - 735 - 835 - 935 were all the same model year. The upgrade for the strde885 would be a good starting point for an upgrade. If you switch the stereo to AV1 then the codes listed in your manual will probably work without necessarily needing to use an upgrade device. (although upgrade devices usually work better)

Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

Re: Noobie with questions
This upgrade for the STR-DE885 will probably work. The upgrade is set to work in AV2 mode, but you can easily change the Device 1 & Device 2 parameters on the Setup sheet:paully_21 wrote:2. I have a sony str-de685 receiver and I can't locate remote codes that work for it...any ideas?
AV1 remote mode: Device1 = 16 Device2 = 144
AV2 remote mode: Device1 = 48 Device2 = 176
