JP1 Remotes

Well I actually found that the MCE upgrade thats available online work with my setup. There are just a couple different buttons that I would like to add to that upgrade. Is there an easy way of doing this since I already know the protocol and everything(since it works perfect with the one available online) I just want to add 2 or three ubttons wihch are different on the new remote that I have. Can some1 help me out how I can do that please?

In additio this is how I want to set it up. There is a special shortcut button on the original remote that lets you switch to "Live TV" and "Recorded TV"

What I want to be able to do is when I press "SAT" on my 2117 so it activates that shortcut on the local remote; In addition it has to still kepp transmitting the same device that I program the ME stuff to and that will be the "AUX" So basically when I press "SAT" it wiull still retain all the ubttons and configs for the "AUX" button and activate a shortcut button for "Live TV"

I tihnk this is possible im just a little confused on how to set this up.

Does the upgrade you found contain the functions you want just not assigned to any button?

If it doesn't then use your 2117 to learn the buttons which aren't in the upgrade and look in the "learned" tab in IR, this may shiow you which codes you need to add to the existing upgrade. If not then upload a copy of the IR file including those learned signals to the diagnosis area on yahoo, read the sticky on posting links and post a link to the file back here. One of the experts should then be able to help you decode those extra buttons.

Is this button just switch the remote, or does it send something to the IR receiver? If it sends something to the receiver, you'll need to work out the code of that button also, if it doesn't then it probably changes the codes some of the other buttons send.

Finally it's not usually a good idea to keep creating new threads when it coninutes the same subject as an earlier ones. You should have put this as a new message on the end of your original question about layout etc.

Use this file: Windows_Media_Center.txt, it has both the "Live TV" and "Recorded TV" buttons included.

Well I for one have no idea what you just asked, hopefully someone else will understand the question.

The 2116/2117 supports macros on the device keys.

Just create a macro on the SAT key that includes all the keys you want, in order, ending with AUX as that is the mode you want to leave the remote in.

BTW, you've got to stop thinking in terms of frequencies when it comes to IR signals. Sure there are frequencies involved in transmission and reception, but there is much more to it than that. It is better to think in terms of protocols (format of transmitted data, including frequency), device parameters (such as device numbers and unit codes), and command codes (OBCs or EFCs).
