RS 2104 setup button suddenly stopped working?

I've been using JP1 for many years now on my radioshack 2104. Never had problems with the extender or any of the new codes i created. The last version of IR i used was 307.

So last night i decided to add a few more buttons to my setup. Never did bother programming in the audio or angle selector buttons from my dvd player. I downloaded IR 515 and made my changes. The new buttons work just fine but the green 'P' button no longer works at all. I assumed it was my changes so i tried re-uploading the backup ir file i made when i first downloaded with IR 515. I also tried uploading the last working ir file (it was a .txt file back with IR307) from over a year ago when i last used IR. It doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Last night when i made my changes I did end up doing a manufacturer 981 reset a couple times so i could learn a few buttons and find out their EFC. I think i did a reset, then learned codes, reset, upload extended IR file, reset, learn a few more, upload extended IR file, add the few new buttons as keymoves, and upload a last time to the remote. Never had a problem.

Sorry for the long seemingly pointless details. But i'm hoping if I give enough information someone might know how to fix this.

Currently it isn't a problem. I can continue to download/upload changes to my extended 2104. But if i ever wanted to go back to default programming, so that i can learn buttons from other remotes, I'll need to be able to do a 981 reset and to do that i need the green 'P' button.

Any help appreciated.

If you're using the extender, the normal operation of the "shift" button is different from that of the default remote. For example, none of the "set-#-#-#" commands are available. To reset the remote, you need to deactivate the extender be removing a battery, pressing a button, and reinsert the battery. Then, press and hold the (P) button until the LED blinks twice, then enter 9-8-1.

Ah. Last night i was able to do the 981 reset on what i thought was an extended remote. So when I couldn't do it this morning I assumed there was something wrong. But now that you mention it, one of the first things that happened was that the batteries fell out just before i tried to do a 981 reset. So i did just what you described by accident.

Thanks for the information.
