I get the following error message in RMIR when trying to open the upgrade for Denon AVR-2807 Receiver Ver. 01. My remote is OARUSB04G Extender 1.03.

The selected protocol "Denon Combo" (0047) is not compatible with the selected remote. This upgrade will NOT function correctly. Please choose a different protocol.

OK

I'm not sure how seriously I should take this, since I'm new to using RMIR. I don't want to brick my new remote... |

I was able to open the upgrade in RMIR with no error message.
I won't be able to test anything with the physical remote until later today.
Thank you for your help! |

Sure thing. I wasn't certain about some parameters that I had to change, so test a few functions when you can and let me know if they work. |

I tried the remote briefly over the noon hour and all of the things I tested worked. Thank you for posting the updated RMDU. |

I just bought a new OARUSB04G (to replace my old RS 15-2116, to control mostly 10-15 year-old equipment) and am receiving the same error in RMIR, "The selected protocol... is not compatible with the selected remote. This upgrade will not function correctly. Please choose a different protocol."
This is a shame, as with the exception of my (new) Motorola FiOS box, the RS 15-2116 had complete functioning upgrades available for all the other old equipment with all discretes, etc. I no longer have a parallel port for my 2116 cable though... and the OARUSB04G was cheaper than a new serial cable and got great reviews here (along with the XSight which I might also pick up if I can get the OAR working).
I'm receiving this identical error or very similar RMIR protocol errors with all of the following upgrades:
Pioneer LX-5080D ADX1551 -V1.1.rmdu - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=5146
Pioneer Elite Pro-730HD.rmdu - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=10493
Lutron Graphik_Eye.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=2363
Lutron_Space_Dimmer_SP600_2133.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=2364
Panasonic_VCR_PV-V4524S.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=856
Edit: the following are now working based on suggestions below:
Onkyo_TX-SR702-CBL1135-15-2117.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1766 - change protocol to NEC 4Dev Combo
Lutron SPS-300LD Spacer Dimmer - http://hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=14031 - new upgrade created by 3FG (thanks!!!)
Any help with those would be appreciated. Or, if I need to sit down and learn all the codes from the 15-2116/OME remotes into the OAR, or do some other different thing, that's fine... just please point me in the right direction.
The upgrades I have been able to load without the protocol error include the following. I've not yet been able to test all of these to see if they fully work with the equipment including discretes, etc:
Motorola QIP7232 (Verizon FIOS).rmdu - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=9589
Pioneer PDP-5080HD.rmdu - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=5416
Pioneer_Plasma_Generic_KM.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1128
Pioneer_Pro800HD_plasma_TV_Discrete_8811.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1129
Pioneer-503cmx-plasma-tv.txt - http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1130
Edit: Here's the list of actual physical equipment in my setup, as well as the codes loaded via simpleset.com and the basic remote setup. The basic codes all generally work for basic functionality:
Onkyo TX-SR702 Receiver -- 1805
Pioneer (Edit: Elite PRO-1120HD TV with PRO-505PU display and PRO-505U TV tuner) -- 0679
Motorola QIP73232 2 FiOS STB -- 1376
Lutron Spacer System Lamp Dimmer SPS-300LD -- no Simpleset code yet located for this dimmer
Panasonic PV-V4610 VCR (don't much care about this VCR - and the basic Simpleset code is fine, really no need for any upgrade) -- 0162
(and a PlayStation PS3)
It's good to be playing with JP1 again after all this time, but also a little frustrating

For the Onkyo, you can take advantage of the NEC 4DEV Combo executor, which is the successor to and similar to NEC 2DEV combo. Just go ahead and load the file, and then change the executor from 2DEV to 4DEV.
If you want to use the subdevice 2 function like for the Tuner section, you could add it. |

Thanks! Based on a few quick tests it looks like the 4Dev Combo worked for the Onkyo! I've edited my post above accordingly.
How would one even know to try the 4Dev for any specific device? Just from experience? I'd tried most of the 2Dev combos with no luck... I must have skipped the 4Dev somehow. I understand that part of the issue is with the new MAXQ622 processor... but I have no idea how to figure out which upgrades/protocols might work with that as they currently stand, and which would not... Or, is my info old on that? should everything work with the MAXQ622 now?
Any pointers on the other devices, particularly the TV & Lutron dimmer? (I should admit I've still not yet tried all the various potential Pioneer upgrades, I need to get on that) Any chance of other similar quick fixes? Or, should I start trying to learn codes into the new remote? I don't mind banging away on this to get it all working, but anything to help limit my current shotgun approach would sure be helpful. |

Any Panny TV or VCR upgrade of similar vintage is worth a try.
For the Lutron, try adding it on the SimpleSet site. That will allow you to enter the make/model and will add several possibly compatible upgrades to your bin file.
Failing that, someone will have to make a Lutron protocol executor for the MAXQ. If you look in the protocol.ini file, you'll see exactly which protocols may not exist for the MAXQ.
Worst case, simply learn all the commands from your old remote. |

The SimpleSet site allows specifying TV, STB, Video, or Audio. It doesn't provide Home Automation codes, and Lutron is not a listed manufacturer.
All of the existing Lutron upgrades use a homemade executor, so I've uploaded an upgrade for the Space System which uses Lutron Official. I tested it with my '04G and a Widget. |

I have no idea how you guys work your magic.
Thanks.
All the pieces are nearly in place now, although I still need to monkey around with the TV upgrades some more to see if there's something that will work there or if I should just learn the very few missing commands from the old 15-2116. |

To make the Lutron upgrade, I used the info provided by Lutron.
For the TV, what functions are missing? |

Let me screw around with the TV some more. So far I've still not been able to get any upgrade to work, only the Simpleset Pioneer device... Even the upgrades that appear to load OK into RMIR seem to have no effect on the TV. So, let me play with those a bit more and get back to you on that.
Edit: eleted nonsense; I'm losing my mind =/ |

So, I learned some TV functions from my old 2116 into the OAR, and then I went to look at them in RMIR, and the Learned Signals tab is grayed out.
I see that this means RMIR can't find DecodeIR, so I download Decode IR.... and then realize that RMIR already came packaged with DecodeIR.
Any idea why Learned Signals is grayed out? |

RMIR writes a file called rmaster.err. Find it, and upload it here. It will tell us where it is looking for DecodeIR.dll, and if was able to load it. |
