URC-9960: Remapping existing codes/Searching new codes
Hi there,
yesterday I started my first experiences with jp1 and - as many others of you - I ran into questions. Here is my most important one:
I got a code update from OFA-support via phone (pinnacle showcenter), but the mapping is stupid. I can see the update code on the devices tab of ir. Now I wish to import this code in rm so that i simply can remap the buttons. But as I read in other threads there is no way to do so.
How can I find out the EFC for a device?
For example my yamaha receiver: most of the built in stuff work, so I only want to change/add some functions. how can i do that without knowing all efc's and without starting up from the scratch? there is no suitable file at the jp1-group?
Does the support of the manufacturer provide my with the efc's?
Thanks a lot and sorry for the -might be- stupid questions. And by the way: Really great work this jp1!!!
Oliver

If you post a copy of your IR file, which includes the downloaded upgrade, many of us here can convert it into a useable upgrade file. If you tellus what code it is, we may already have the info.
As for the built in codes, if you tell us what codes you're talking about, we can create upgrade files for you.
If you were to try doing either of the above tasks on your own, you could always go about it the same way that you would if you were building an upgrade file from scratch, in oher words, learn the signals, decode them, then build the upgrade. (I assume you've already checked the file section to see if we have upgrades for either of these devices).
As for advanced codes, first check my site to see if I already have them. If I don't, then you can certainly ask the OEM to send them to you via email, then send them along to me so I can include them on my site.

Hi Robman,
thanks for your fast reply.
The two codes are 0176 (Yamaha audio device) and 1447 (Pinnacle showcenter as cable device). I already saw the advanced code list for 0176 but as i mentioned before, i don't want to start from the scratch. So i need the normal built-in stuff as well.
It would be great, if you can convert the built in 0176 and the 1447, so that i can remap the buttons. The update is below: (cable device, protocol id: 12A, Fixed Data:A9 32 95 55 56 65 56 56 and the checkbox "protocol -> FF" is checked.
1447:
2A 00 DE C2 2E C1 A9 32 95 55 56 65 56 56 F1 F2
F3 F4 F5 F6 F7 F8 F9 FA 9E 9F E1 D2 D1 A8 A9 AA
AB 0D 80 D3 D3 D5 D6 D4
Thanks a lot,
oliver

People here are more than willing to help out , as Rob suggests. As for the upgrade you got over the phone , while there is no copy and paste or automatic method of importing into RM you can write down the info in the devices tab of IR. This will give you the EFCs in use with their button assignments. The only trick is converting the Protocol ID and fixed data into the Protocol , device , and subdevice in RM's setup page. I don't know if there is an easy way to do this but looking through the protocols.ini file in the RM directory will get you close. Note that this only works with upgrades , not built in codes.
Of course sharing your upgrade gives all of us access to new equipment files without all of us calling UEI , learning commands or sending in our remotes.

Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

@zaphod: I didn't understand, what you are talking about, maybe I am too much newbee... But if i will finish my work (and i do hope so), i will post it for sure.
@rob: Is this the information you need i do i have to post the whole file, saved with ir?
As I read in several threads it is NOT possible to get an upgrade-file for km/rm out of the built-in codes/my upgrade (1447). But as I understood you (Rob) you are able do do so, is this correct? And if yes, i am really excited to get my remote doing the right thing...
so lang,
oliver

I'd certainly prefer the whole file as it makes the process alot easier. To use the code you pasted, I would need to do some fiddling about to re-create the original file.olivertoma wrote:@rob: Is this the information you need i do i have to post the whole file, saved with ir?
I don't have any secret powers, so I'm not doing anything you don't have the ability to do, I'm probably just more of an expert as reading hex data.olivertoma wrote:As I read in several threads it is NOT possible to get an upgrade-file for km/rm out of the built-in codes/my upgrade (1447). Any other experts looking at this thread may find it useful to check the CCF file at:
http://www.remotecentral.com/.../pin-multi-showcenter.zip
The protocol is RC6-6-32 and the wrong bit toggles. (It is device 128.5137 toggling with device 128.5265)
I know we've discussed RC6-6-32 in JP1 before and I think we have a UEI protocol upgrade for it floating around somewhere. But as usual, I forget which thread it was.

I haven't checked carefully, but I think this is the same upgrade as the KM file from MR_Cinema7 posted at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... Center.txt
But, this newer one has the longer fixed data, which would permit a shorter protocol upgrade, so I expect that UEI has switched their approach to RC6 family protocols to make smaller Protocol upgrades.

OK Oliver,
I've created upgrade files for both CBL/1447 and Audio/0176 for you. I know you're looking for RM files, but these are KM files. You should be able to open the Audio/0176 file using RM no problem, because is uses the very standard NEC1 protocol, but the CBL/1447 file will pose a problem because I've had to use the "Manual Settings" mode, which is not yet supported in RM.
As John already noticed, this one uses the same protocol as the Windows Media Center upgrade that he linked to, but possibly a different version (I didn't check). So, I don't know if it's possible to re-create this upgrade using RM, but if it is John will probably have to help you with it as I don't know how to do it.
At any rate, here are the files:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... o-0176.txt
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... L-1447.txt
