IR Problem???

After about a six-month hiatus, I attempted to make some mods this morning using the Special Protocol Builder in IR.
Using SPB, there appears to be no way to enter a new command (except as a new last command) into, nor to delete a command from, for example, a DSM - other than by direct manipulation of the hex string in the next higher level window. (Modification of the hex string in the SPB window is of no effect.)
I don't recall whether or not these issues were brought up last spring when SPB was being implemented. (They are so basic, I'd be surprised if they weren't - if they were missing then.) Was there some technical reason why these two capabilities couldn't be implemented? I do recall there were some serious dimensional problems in the early implementation of SPB whereby certain users, me among them, had difficulty displaying various aspects of the SPB "window". Perhaps Insert/Delete buttons are provided but I just can't bring them into view?
