1. Device: DTronics DS-21R DVI switch
2. Type of device: DVI switch
3. Remote model: 15-1994
4. JP1 user? yes
5. Still have original remote? yes
6. Checked Yahoo file section? yes
7. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes (they have a file for DS-41R but that did not help me).
I am trying to create a protocol for this device. I have built protocols before with protocol builder but this one seems strange to me.
It has just 2 buttons, input 1 and input 2. I can't use learned codes as I am using extender 5.
the learned codes are:
Input 1:
+1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -2402 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -129804 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -2402 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -129804 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -2402 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -129804 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -2402 +1236 -1800 +632 -2402 +1266 -129804
Input 2:
+1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -2406 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -129226 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -2406 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -129226 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -2406 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -129226 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -2406 +1236 -1798 +632 -1822 +1844 -129226
Frequency 37914
Using IRTool on the pronto codes I found for the 4 input model (DS-41R) I get AirSync2 protocol which does not help me.
Does anyone have an idea how to approach this problem?
Thanks,
Omri

If you found Pronto codes, could you either post a link to where you found them or post the codes themselves. Also, if you have successfully learned the signals, could you post your IR file in the Diagnosis Area, then post a link to it (after reading the "how to post links" thread)

The link to the IR file with the learned codes is
DTronics_DS-21R.IR.
The link to the pronto file (which is for the DS-41R, but I assume is close enough) is
here.

Try this, the two input buttons are assigned to the CH +/- buttons...
Upgrade Code 0 = 0F D0 (Video Acc/2000) DTronics DS-21R DVI switch (KM v8.25)
FF 00 21 C4 30 70
End
Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8) Custom Protocol for Video Acc/2000 DTronics DS-21R DVI switch (KM v8.25)
3D 92 11 8B 15 CD B0 40 08 08 01 3B 00 00 00 00
01 27 1F 1C 00 00 00 00 FF 04 E4 03 05 E4 04 06
E6 11 03 8D 01 33
End

Thanks for the help.
It is close but does not work - meaning it works if I stand and press the button repeatadly for about a minute. I assume it is marginally correct, but far enough not to work most of the time.
Any ideas?

I don't understand what you mean by "press the button for about a minute". This signal doesn't repeat when the button is held, it just sends one quick burst, so no matter how long you hold the button down, you get the same amount of signal.
Do your learned signals work reliably?

I am sorry if I was not clear. I wrote "press the button repeatedly", meaning press multiple times one after the other.
The learned signals work perfectly and reliably.

Try replacing the protocol with this one and see if it's any better. If this doesn't work, I'm all out of ideas because the signals are about as perfect a match as I can possibly get them.
Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8) Custom Protocol for Video Acc/2000 DTronics DS-21R DVI switch (KM v8.25)

E6 11 03 8D 01 33
End

That did the trick.
Thank you very much.

I need help again

Sorry to bother, but I have a new problem.
My 1994 died and I got a URC-6131 with 2k memory.
I installed extender 1.
I tried to use the protocol and device you created for the 1994 in the 6131 but it does not work.
Am I doing something wrong? Should the protocol or device be changed for the 6131?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can't use an upgrade from one remote in another (unless they're from similar "families"). In this case, the protocol can't be used either since the 1994 and 6131 use slightly different processors.

Did you just copy the upgrades from the previous posts into the URC-6131 (which won't work) or did you open the KM upgrade file in KM and change the selected remote to the URC-6131 (which will work).
Apart from the question of whether the functions will end up on the right buttons, the protocol code will change slightly when you change remotes because the 15-1994 uses the old S3C8 chip whereas the URC-6131 uses the newer S3C8+ chip.
The new protocol code should be ...
Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8) Custom Protocol for Video Acc/2000 DTronics DS-21R DVI switch (KM v8.25)
3E 92 11 8B 15 CD B0 40 08 08 01 3B 00 00 00 00
01 1A 1F 1C 00 00 00 00 FF 04 E4 03 05 E4 04 06
E6 11 03 8D 01 46
End

That worked - thank you very much.
I knew I was doing something wrong but I haven't touched JP1 stuff for a long time and could not remember how to go about fixing it.
As always, your help is appreciated.
My wife says thank you too.. Now she has a remote again.

By the way, what do you mean by:

?
Since this is a very popular remote, there are some who might be interested in trying to revive it somehow.
Now if its "dead" ín the sense of "My dog chewed it into a thousand pieces", or "My 4-year old son microwaved it and it looked like Emperor Palpatine torturing Luke Skywalker with Sith lightning and there was smoke rising from the smoldering plastic" then there is likely no recovery, but if you just spilled a gin and tonic on it, somebody might want to give it a go at "revivifying" it.
