|
|
1. Device: Canon ES190
2. Type of device: Camcorder
3. Remote model: RS 15-2117
4. JP1 user? yes
5. Still have original remote? no
6. Checked Yahoo file section? yes
7. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
I've noticed that there is setup code "0167" for Canon camcorders in the setup codes section, but my Radio Shack 15-2117 doesn't come with that code. I've tried using VCR code 0035 but that didn't work. I've also checked the device upgrades section on the Yahoo JP1 files section for an upgrade but there isn't anything listed...
Can anybody help me out?
Thanks!

Try VCR 0034 if you can. That's the Sony 8mm code (0035 is old Panasonic) and many of the Canon's used Sony substructures (some were Sanyo/Fisher too). There are some upgrades for 0034 on the Yahoo forums if you need it. I think I have an old Canon camcorder remote at work to learn from but I won't be able to do anything with it until Monday. Canon used their own electronics for the most part with other people's mechanisms so the remote code could be unique. _________________ Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now. |

There is a setup code called VCR/0167 which has only turned up in a few remotes (mainly just the URC-8550 Topline). It uses the NEC2 protocol with a device code of 133.118 It only has 8 buttons programmed, so it could well be a camcorder code.
251 - MENU
185 - PLAY
180 - PAUSE
183 - REWIND
181 - FFWD
122 - STOP
186 - RECORD
117 - SP/LP _________________ Rob

Thanks!
That works for the play, pause, stop, rewind, and fast forward buttons. The record, sp/lp and menu buttons still don't work...
If anybody comes across more codes for this camcorder please let me know... |

Now that you have a partially working setup code why not try all of the remaining EFCs in the range 000 thru 255 to not only find the missing buttons but also to see what other functions the camcorder might support. _________________ Rob

Yeah, thats was my next step... Assuming they all use that same device code then I should be able to figure them all out.
I will have to remove my extender from the remote to use advanced codes right? (otherwise I'd have to map them in IR and assign them to buttons first, right?) |

If you want to use the SETUP+nnn method, then yes, you will need ti disable the extender. Otherwise you would map them in KM or RM, not IR, and create a couple of dummy upgrades to test them. _________________ Rob

I put together a RemoteMaster upgrade for this from an old remote I had at the shop. The SP/LP command will probably not work on a camcorder since most could play LP tapes but not record them. Canon Camcorder There could be other functions possible but camcorders have limited functions available. _________________ Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now. |

The extra functions that Zaphod included are...
182 Tape Return
248 Zoom Wide
244 Zoom Telephoto
187 Start/Stop
056 Counter Reset
He also confirmed the SP/LP and MENU codes are correct. _________________ Rob
