Can I assign macros to any key on a Kameleon (URC-9960) without using the extender? |

Just guessing here, but I'd say yes (almost). That is, you should be able to assign them to MOST of the keys, just not to things like the device buttons, etc.
Of course, the only true answer to a question like this is "try it and see" _________________ Rob

Agreed. I should just try it. That begs another question...
How many times can the remote be written to without failing. I know that some EEPROMS can be written to thousands of times before failure, but then again there are some that are only rated for a few hundred. |

The literature for the Atmel EEPROMs I use states "standard one million erase/write cycles". I figure I'm about half way there! _________________ Mark |

Let's put it another way, the JP1 group started in late 2000 and there are several experts here how have done more reading/writing to EEPROMs than they ever would have dreamed possible before JP1 and we've yet to come across a single case of a worn out EEPROM.
So while it might technically be possible, there are much more pressing issues in life to worry about! _________________ Rob
