Sorry for the newbie question, but...

I am trying to use KM (8.27) and can not get the functions listed on the functions tab to appear in the drop down list on the buttons tap. There is nothing in the drop down list, and thus can not assign a function to a button. Does anyone know why this might be occuring? The concept seems pretty straight forward, but I guess the macro that should update the drop down list is not running for me. I am running windows XP with Office 2000 Excel and the analysis toolpak is installed and do not see any errors that I may be receiving.
Thanks in advance.

There's no macro used for the functions list drop-down. You do need to specify the appropriate EFC or OBC codes for the functions before they will appear in the list; have you done that?

You must first load up the .txt file for the remote in question.

Ok here is how I have been trying to do it. I open the unchanged KM 8.27 file and say yes to the enable macros question. Then I hit the load button and pick the yamaha 2095 .txt file. It has device type, setup codes button codes and protocol and main device setup and has functions and efc numbers present.
But wait....
Sorry while I was typing this response the functionality totally changed. I was previously not getting the "calculating..." message when I first loaded the yamaha file, and I notice the other tabs still had the default device, and remote, etc. They had not updated and matched the setup sheet.
Now after opening Visual Basic and looking around at some of the macro code the functionality appears to be working. Strange. Now if I open the KM file is says calculating cells at the bottom for a split second and all of the pages appear dynamic (not static like before). Not sure if the trip into VB turned on this functionality, but I appear to be in good shape. Very strange though as I am not sure what I did to make the spread sheet dynamic, etc.
Thanks for the input and I hope I am home free.
