981 reset on UEI upgraded remote

Two questions.
I just got two URC6131 remotes back from UEI after having the codes for Hauppauge MediaMVP and Cyberhome CH-DVD300 DVD player added. I safely downloaded and saved the data with IR.exe. Would a 981 reset remove the devices added by UEI , or just macros , keymoves and normal device codes ? (if I was silly enough to try it without checking first ? )

I bought a URC8810w and built a cable while waiting and added the same two devices using the resources found here , but the UEI upgrade uses no keymoves while the files on Yahoo that I based my 8810 modifications on seem to use a lot of them. Would there be any benefit (if I can figure out how to do it) in posting the official (UEI) device upgrade codes for these products ? Or are the keymoves just a result of a device added by UEI to one model being translated to a different model ? Like my 6131 device upgrade being used to build an upgrade for my 8810.

BTW , great site and resource. Modern electronics seem to be impossible to use fully without places like this. Sorry , I had my 6131s purchased before I found out that you had them available , and no one seemed to have figured out the Hauppauge remotes when I sent them in for the UEI upgrade.

Your sig should really be something like "... because two heads are better than one"

Anyway, yes indeed, a 981 reset would wipe out the upgrades that they added. Actually, to be more precise, it would wipe out the pointers to the upgrades (at $100 in the EEPROM) but most of the data would still be there, so an expert could probably do a manual "un-delete". To delete your macros, etc without killing the upgrades, you could be a 980 reset.

As for the upgrade/keymove question, keep in mind that when you customize an upgrade in either KM or RM, you are totally free to assign the functions to the buttons of your choice, but if you chose to assign them to buttons not included in the keymap for the selected device mode in the remote you are programming, this will cause keymoves to be created. UEI only programs functions to sensible buttons and they certainly limit themselves to the buttons available in the keymaps, so I'm guessing that when you test those upgrades out, you will find several key functions missing.

Thanks , there were several functions left out of the UEI upgrade.
I'll have to think about a sig and find an interesting quote from the books.
Interesting that UEI doesn't warn about ways to lose their upgrade codes.
