samsung sir ts360 problems

Post by Vic L »

I did not see where this may have been covered already but if so I apologize in advance.

I downloaded the file for the samsung ts360 satellite reciever and it seems to be fine except when using the channel up or down button within the guide display. I sometimes have to press it 3-4 times to make it do its thing. Other times one press will cause it to advance numerous times. By the way this is a URC9800 remote.

TIA.

Vic,

There is no obvious cause from your description. Save your file in IR and the upgrade file you used for the 360, zip them together and post to the JP1 Yahoo group files|diagnostic area. Then read the sticky post at the top of this forum on how to post a link and post a link so we can find your file and one of us will take a look.

Thanks for any help.

Vic,

I am replying in this thread since you described the symptoms and what remote you had here. So please reply to this thread to keep all the information together. I posted a link to the other thread where you posted your link at the bottom.

When I looked at the device upgrade that you included in your zip, it was set for the URC-6131 and video accesory and while I don't think you left it set for that, I couldn't reproduce the upgrade from the hex in IR.

I changed it to the 9800 and to satellite, deleted the old key moves and upgrade and then reinstalled. I have included a zip with the updated KM file and IR file including those changes. Just upload 9800-samsung-1.ir directly into the 9800 and see if that works any better.

If not let me know.

For anyone else the link to vic's file was posted here

Jon,

Thanks for the help however I still am having the same problems. It would seem that everything to do with the satellite receiver is sluggish when using the urc9800. I have no problems with it controling my home theatre receiver, tv, cd or dvd player, only the satellite which is the only thing I am using jp1 with. I have tried using the rf receiver and even holding the remote right in front of the ir port (which is very small on the samsung.) I appreciate your help and if you can think of anything else please let me know. If I am persistent everything eventually works so I am not totally screwed.

Thanks again,

Vic

I've gone back thru my process to see if I may have done something wrong and am realizing that I thought I saw something that said I did not have to worry about downloading and setting a path to the rdf's. Now I don't see where I got that idea. Could that be my problem? I am using ir ver. 5.09

Thanks for your patience with someone who is probably in way over thier head.

Vic,

I have uploaded a new file but you can use the same link as before. I am trying the NEC2 protocol rather than the NECx2 protocol. They are similar, but it is possible that that protocol for the 9800 that uses an older processor doesn't work as well.

In your testing please do not use the RF link or even leave it connected to the power since it can affect how the IR command works. Once we get the IR working correctly we can tackle the RF part. In fact you should test the previous file with the RF base station disconnected first and then this latest one.

Jon I am just getting around to trying the new protocol you left and it worked great. I have however encountered another problem. I forgot to download my remote first and my old downloads apparently were not saved correctly so I have lost all functions for amp, cd, dvd etc. Not the end of the world as I am guessing I can make things cleaner using the jp1, however I am unable to find the file for a Denon AVR-5700 amp. Would you know if others are suitable. If I should post this on the files forum I apologize but I also wanted to thank you for your great help. I would have had to give up without it.

Thanks again,

Vic L.

The Denon command set is pretty much the same for all models. Certain commands only work for some models. I would pick the model number that looks the closest and if commands are missing, I have a generic list of all commands for Denon (about 200 commands).

There is a file in Denon-receivers.txt here, that appears to be a good collection of Denon Commands.

However, I posted a complete IR file where I made the changes, so unless you did a lot of changing the last file I posted should be able to be loaded back into your remote. I didn't change anything except the protocol, unless I did something wrong. You might try that first.
