Could you use this as an eeprom burner?

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Could you use this as an eeprom burner?

Post by tim2xu »

would it be possible to use your cable and software to burn eeproms for other
uses such as upgrading a bios? It was just a thought....

The JP1 software would not be of much use for this, but the cable should be able to communicate with most I2C serial EEPROMs, given that you connect it correctly, and there aren't any 5v-vs-3.3 volt issues. I doubt that you'll find very many consumer devices with a BIOS that can be upgraded this way, though.
