Comcast On Demand

My Comcast cable box is made by Motorola. I have a URC-6131 w/JP1 and I use the code for Motorola cable boxes. It works perfectly, except I don't have a button for the "On Demand" button.

The original cable box remote has an exclusive button called "On Demand" that gets me to their start-able/stop-able/rewind-able video feeds. I have tried going through the menus, and without this button, I cannot access any of the "On Demand" features.

Does anyone have a code or anything that I can use to program my remote to do this?

Here's the story. The Comcast remote is also a JP1 remote where the transport keys are designed to always punch through to VCR mode, even from CABLE mode.

As you need the transport keys for VOD, they added a button called VOD-SHIFT which simply puts the remote into "shift" mode so the transport keys work the cable box rather than the VCR.

You won't need this button on your URC-6131 as you can simply program the transport keys to work your cable box whenever the remote is in CABLE mode.

My problem isn't utilizing the transport keys while watching VOD. (Although it might be once I get into it.) My problem is accessing the VOD. When I go to the main menu and select the "On Demand" option, I am unable to find a button that acts like an Enter key. I can move the selection cursor over "On Demand" on the screen, but I have no button that will let me confirm my choice. (like hitting "Enter" on a computer) I figured if I could find out the code for the actual "On Demand" button, I wouldn't have to go through this menu.

If anyone else is using the Comcast Motorola box, which setup code are you using?

If you're using CBL/0476, try the Select button. That's the default Ok/Enter function.

On my Comcast cable box (Motorola DCT6200, code 0476), OnDemand is simply channel 1. If you want, simply program a macro to type <1><SELECT>

The VOD transport controls are:
Up-arrow = Play
Right-arrow = FF
Left-arrow = REW
Select = Pause
Down-arrow = Stop

For Enter, it's just the Select button in the middle of the 4 arrow buttons. F.REW is Page Down, F.FWD is Page UP. The only key that does nothing is ENTER, but you could probably map SELECT onto it to make it easier to use instead of waiting the few seconds after typing in a channel number.

The above is what I've found on my 6012.

Thanks, I'm using CBL/0476 now. The only problems are I have no "Last" button. (very useful in the "On Demand" menus) I also have no Page Up/Down buttons, which are useful for navigating throught the channel guide.

Try using the PREV key as LAST.

I just found a picture of the 6131. Have you tried the Previous/Next track buttons? (Lower left and right of the transport key panel) to see if those are mapped to PageUp/PageDown? Have you tried any semi-obvious key (there appear to be Advance and Replay keys.) Otherwise, you need to find an EFC list for the 0476 code and you could do a key move onto some otherwise unused keys.

Since I rarely use channel up and down I keymoved page up and down to those keys. Channel up and down are long keypresses of the buttons.
