XP parallel port / IR issue

Hi Guys,
Don't wanna sound stupid here, looked everywhere for a thread regarding an issue with IR.exe not being able to read from the parallel port in Windows XP. I remember vaguely.....(last time I visited on of the jp1 sites is mor ethan a year ago)
Here's my problem:
Just bought me a brand new PC and installed XP on it. Now, all of a sudden, IR.exe seems unable to read from my remote.
Any suggestions?
