Complete list of jp1 compatible remotes (with pictures)?

Sorry if this is posted somewhere already, but I've looked and couldn't find anything.

So, just as the title says, I'm hoping to find a list of all my options when it comes to jp1 remotes. I already know of the OFA remotes, radio shack, and uei (these aren't sold directly to the public, correct? and the most likely place to get them is ebay?) is that everything?

On to another line of questioning: Who exactly makes Scientific Atlanta remotes? It seems from searching here, that atleast some of them are jp1 programmable (although people seem to have a lot of problems getting it to work).

Does uei make their remotes? It seems like the Atlas models are VERY similar to the Scientific Atlanta models.

Ultimately I'm personally trying to get something similar to the Scientific Atlanta AllTouch8400( http://www.timewarneraustin.com/images/ ... e/8400.jpg ), and it seems like the Atlas PVR remote is pretty close. But also, since I have several buddies with non-PVR remotes (not sure if they are the ER1, or the AllTouch2300) and would like to possibly help them out with programming the remote.

Are the Atlas/Scientific Atlanta remotes just as flexible in the programming (with extenders, etc) as OFA remotes and the like?

thanks for taking the time to read this and any replies.

actually a search for picture turned up discussion about a picture in RM not being correct (and then I had to do a search to find out what RM stood for :p )

anyway, I went ahead and DL'd RM and can access the "images" folder. Would you say that is a pretty complete list of the remotes?

Obviously, RS remotes can be found at your local RadioShack. A few brick & mortar retailers carry some OFA models (Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc), and there are several online vendors as well (see the banner ads at the top and bottom of these pages). Ebay is a good place to find older JP1 remotes no longer available commercially.

There's a list of JP1 remotes over at Yahoo. Rob has pictures of many RadioShack and OFA remotes on his site.

It is pretty close. There is only a couple of more infrequently used remotes that are still using the generic picture. I just have not taken the time to include those missing ones since they are rarely used. Actually, I think it is only like maybe 2. If you find one we are not supporting let me know.

Anyone that Scientific Atlanta cares to buy them from. This has included UEI at times.

Yes. (Well, at least they design them.)

Close in appearence, perhaps, but the AllTouch is not a UEI remote, and therefore cannot be programmed via JP1.

The Atlas 4 and Atlas PVR are true JP1 remotes, and can be programmed with upgrades and macros as easily as any other JP1 remote. However, there are no extenders for them because (like most of UEI's non-learning remotes) they only have a 1K EEPROM, and the extenders need at least a 2K EEPROM.

No they don't, they just design them and write the software for them, though we generally refer to UEI as "making" them because it's simpler for the conversation at hand. Like any good business would, UEI shops around for manufacturers looking fir best price, etc, so they end up using different manufacturers for different remotes. In fact, I have seen them change manufacturer for the same remote. This is the case with the blue DirecTV remotes, where the original ones were made in Korea and the newer ones are made in China.

It appears that all OFA remotes are made by Computime, and I think they might also make most (or all) of the remotes that UEI does for RS.
