I have a JVC 1028 receiver and a Series 2 Direct Tivo.

There exists a 2 file download for the receiver (the second is said to map the transport keys). This was designed for a 9800/8800 and I am using the 6131. How do I combine these two files? When I load them up and transfer to IR, I get a conflict on a keymove - am I doing something wrong, or do I need to do more work than just tell KM that I'm using a different remote?

For the DirectTivo, I would like to have the PIP button on the remote also be the Clear key. Is this a macro? Is this a keymove?
Could I get a quick primer on how to do this in IR? I've read the files, I just need a nudge to have the 'Eureka' light go on in my head.

Thanks all.

Andy

When you refer to upgrade files, please post links to them so we know exactly which ones you are talking about, and don't have to go searching for them. Before posting links, please read this.

I'll wait until youy tell us exactly which files you are trying to use to tackle the conflicting keymove issue.

You use a macro when you want a single key press to cause multiple IR comands to be sent to your equipment.

You use a keymove when you just want to change the command sent by a particular key press.

In your case you want to use a keymove. In IR, use the keymove tab to create this keymove. Find the desired EFC at http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/ueic.cgi?PVR_0618

The zip file on yahoo is:

1028JVCFile

The Tivo issue is that that the Tivo doesn't have a PIP button - I don't see where it is mapped/how to assign it when I'm in the PVR mode.

Help, again.

The JVC stuff is going to take a bit more digging.

I know the TiVo doesn't have a PIP button. The 6131 does.

So, you want to create a keymove on the PIP button that uses the EFC for the Clear function. This EFC is 663, which is the same as 151.

The reason for the two upgrades is that some buttons use a different device code. What he's suggesting that you do is customize the main upgrade to suit your needs, then use keymoves from the second upgrade just for those buttons covered by the second upgrade.

To do this, you would install the second upgrade then program the buttons as needed using keymoves.

The creator of these files has confused the issue by including all functions in both files. I think he has used the byte2 column to indicate which functions belong to the 2nd upgrade.

Here's the first upgrade with all the functions mapped...

Upgrade Code 0 = 34 32 (Tuner/1074) JVC-Tuner-1028BK (KM v8.23)
34 00 FE D0 02 BE F9 3A F7 77 1D 3D 43 03 C3 B7
94 2F 87 07 C7 67 E7 17 E8 18 64 E4 8D D1 E5 A7
68 0D E3 5F 3F 14 44 48 51 01
End

Here's the 2nd upgrade ...

Upgrade Code 0 = 35 33 (Tuner/1331) JVC-Amp-1028BK (KM v8.23)
34 00 00 16 FD 0A 09 91 E1 F1 71 31 B1 FF 61
End

And here's the advanced codes that you would need to program the keymoves...
134 - menu
133 - up arrow
137 - down arrow
139 - left arrow
135 - right arrow
009 - set
005 - exit
074 - main room on/off
181 - effect
