Radio Shack 15-2130 looks pretty good

Post by usblipitor »

Anyone know if the newest Radio Shack remotes are JP1 compliant?
Even at remotecentral.com they have no information on them, such as
the 15-2130, which at under $50 seems to do everything, even download
tv guide listings. But if it isn't JP1 compliant I don't want it. BTW, the
15-2117 (JP1 friendly and has a RF receiver so you can use it all over the
house) is on sale for under $30 (regularly $50ish).

Here is a link to Radio Shack's remote controls, taking opinions on the
four-in-one program guide remote control (wish I could tear open the
package in the store and check the battery compartment for those 6 tasty
pins) :

link to Radio Shack

Man, that is one freaking long link.

EDIT: yeah, which is why I just "cloaked" it. - Rob

Doesn't seem to be a sale, FWIW.

My friends at UEI tell me that this is not one of their remotes, so no JP1 :(

The 2130 is out of stock at RadioShack.com...

Seems like a bit of a waste to need to plug the remote into the computer (via USB) just to get TV guide listings anyway... Easier just to pull up the TV Guide on the computer... TVGuide.com and Yahoo.com both work pretty well ;)

Now that I have a Tivo, though, I must admit I don't look at listings anymore... ;)
