can someone please confirm if the URC8910 is fully learning capable for ALL buttons (except the Device selection buttons), and not just the 4 "Learning" keys
the manual says ALL keys can be "taught", but i've read comments claiming only the 4 special keys can be taught
i want to buy one, but only if i can program all the keys |

Confirmed... All but selected buttons can be learned to.. Due to memory constraints only 20 to 25 buttons can be learned. _________________ Nils

You can learn to almost any key.
But the learning capacity is fairly limited.
The capacity is shared by all device modes. You have enough capacity to learn all the functions of a typical remote, or to learn a few functions each for every device mode. But all the functions from a single remote might be too much if it has more than typical number or length of signals, and learning all the signals from several remotes is almost certainly too much.
But the form learned signals are stored in is just one choice (the worst) for programming keys in a JP1 remote. With a JP1 cable and a little effort you probably have enough memory in the remote to program every key of every device mode to do what you want it to do. |

ok, thanks for the replies
the reason i want to buy a "learning" remote is mainly to replace a cheap "generic" X-Box remote i bought on e-bay
i have another "universal" remote, but the IR dongle that came with the generic remote is not compatible with RCA codes like the "official" MS XBox dongle/remote is
and searching for the correct code w/ my current universal didn't work |
