codes for urc-8811

Anybody point me in the right direction to turn a URC-8811 into a fortec remote?

Hi Mark
Yes I do have a cheap fortec remote, but according to the instructions for the 8811, it will only learn 4 keys - L1 thru L4.

I did a search for 8811 & fortec and found nothing. What did I miss?

The instructions are incorrect. You can learn to just about any key. But we only use learning as a temporary measure to figure out the IR protocol and the commands so you can create a device upgrade.
If IR doesn't decode the learned commands, then save your file and post here. Then read this and post a link.

In the #1 FAQ thread, The Robman wrote:If you do have a JP1 learning remote, then the answer to your search is already in your hands. All you need to do is learn the buttons from your original remote, using your JP1 learning remote, and then download the memory using IR.exe. This will (usually) tell you what protocol, device codes and OBC/EFC codes are being used. You can then use this info to build an upgrade for your device using either KM or RM.

NOTE: Most user manuals for learning remotes indicate that you can only learn to a few select buttons. The truth is, you can learn to almost ANY button with the exception of the device buttons, and the power button on a few models.

Thanks Rob, Jon, and MarkRob You're right, I did read that, but my manual said only the 4 keys L1-L2-L3-L4 can be programed?
I see now that all the keys, well most of them anyway can learn!

Once you've captured the signals from the Fortec and built an upgrade (and we can help you with that if needed), be sure to load your file into the file section, so the next Fortec user can use it.

A fortec ultra is a FTA (free to air) satellite receiver for the ku band.
It comes with one of the cheapest remotes I've ever seen.
This JP1 is new to me, I think that I have the right files to dl the remote info. I was very surprised to find that the urc-8811 would record all the commands to it. Let me check all the functions tomorrow to be sure they all work and I'll post it here.
