Hello Group,
I have read, studied, thought, considered, and worried about using JP1 and am now prepaired to dive off the deep end!
Just one thing,
The entire point of the exersize will be to allow my One for All URC 6131
to control those functions which will not work using function code
1518. Which is the only code which functions at all on my
Panasonic SA-PM18 ( CD player / Audio rcvr ).
Is their a file written which will do this? if so please give me a link to download it, as I am unable to find it by searching.
Also if I must "Learn" new codes inorder to use JP1 than will it be necessary to purchase a Learning Remote for this purpose?
I want very badly to be able to use my 6131 as it works perfect with
Tivo and my other components. If only their were Advanced function codes available life would be so simple!!
Thanks for listening,
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!
Confushed in Houston.

To be clear, you need to have an EEPROM and JP1 connector in the 6131, most stock off the shelf ones will have neither.
There migh be an upgrade for it, which you can either rework to suit your fancy, or just find the EFC you need in it and enter it in as a keymove.
To learn codes, a learning JP1 remote is technically easiest, but you don't necessarily need one (despite my URC6800+ having learning capability, I don't use it for making upgrades, I use an IR receiver module and software which scans and decodes it on the parallel port)

There are 5 upgrade files in the HT Systems folder for Panasonic devices, any one of which will probably work for you.
However, like the Cat said, you will need to modify your URC-6131 remote to use JP1 with it.
If there comes a time where you find that it would be helpful to use learning to decode signals, you could buy a cheap JP1 learning remote for that purpose (such as the URC-8811) and still use your URC-6131 as your main remote.
