Upgrade for Yamaha DVD DV-C6480

Post by venik »

I am looking for an upgrade file or codes for a Yamaha DVD player (DV-C6480) to use with a RS 15-2116. The remote is a learning remote, but for some reason it has lost its ability to learn: when I try to teach it, I get ERROR most of the times, although I am careful to position the two remotes 2" apart, without moving them, etc.
Thanks,

There is an upgrade for the Yamada DVX 6100 in the files/device upgrade/DVD area of Yahoo worth trying.

Also, the error message may be that you have reached the limit of learning memory. You can check that by downloading to IR or save your configuration with IR and do a reset of the remote and try the learn again.

I tried that Yamaha file before I posted. The 6100 seems different enough from my model. As for the learned memory, IR reports that less than half of the memory for learned keys is used.

Just to make sure, when you tried the 6100 upgrade did you change the remote type in KM before loading it in IR?

As far as the learning goes I do suggest you backup you configuration with IR and do a full reset of the remote then try learning again before reloading your backup.

Thanks, I have done all that: made sure that the remote indicated was 2116,
and done a reset on the remote to try and revive its learning ability.
I think it had become learning challenged, but whenever I can find the correct EFC code I can get around it. I now figured out how to control most of the DVD functions, so I am (almost) happy.
