|
|
Group,
I picked up a go video d2730 today as an display model. Unfortunately it had no remote. I have a 15-1994 remote with the jp1 cable anyone kindly give me any direction on finding an appropriate code to work the remote?
Thanks a bunch.

Is that a DVD? There are two go video DVD upgrades in
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files/3.%20Device%20Codes/DVD/
Unfortunately, they are quite different from each other, meaning go video is not consistent across models. But they may be partially consistent, so one of those might work.
Sometimes it's worth chasing IR protocols indirectly through brands. The go video DV2130 uses a protocol typical for Samsung and matches the Samsung DVD-V7070. If your model doesn't match the DV2130, it won't match the 7070 either, but might match some other Samsung model. The Samsung HT-DM150 uses typical Samsung protocol with a different device number. |

I think GoVideo is one of those rebadging type of OEMs that use a lot of different signals.
Therefore, I think you're going to have to take your 15-1994 with you to the store where you bought it and see if you can capture the signals from a display remote. If you have a second JP1 learning remote that you can take with you, even better, because it's unlikely that you'll be able to capture all the buttons in one pass. _________________ Rob

I have tried all the go video protocols from the jp1 group along with all the oritron ones ( suppose to be same player) with no success. I did try the Gateway connected files (suppose to be same player again) and had some limited success. The unit originally started up with a warning about needing a firmware update, saying I needed to insert the disk and try again. So I have downloaded that and was able to get the menu to work by pressing random keys with the gateway protocol. After the upgrade some of the keys resulted in an action, but only about 1/3 of the keys worked and not enough to even make it workable. There is talk from another board about someone flashing the unit to use the gateway firmware, but he had some issues and had a hard time getting back to the govideo firmware since the remote did not work. I am going to pursue the possibility that flashing the unit with the gateway firmware and using the gateway protocol might be workable.....
What are your guys thoughts? Sounds like I am sol unless I can get a remote to learn the keys with. (currently using the 3 expander so I don't have learning functions now)
Thanks for all your help.

Try the upgrade for the Sungale 8500 (the Sungale 8208 upgrade in NOT similar). The 8500 has several commands in common with the Gateway but most different. It sounds like your device also has several commands in common with the Gateway and most different.
Even if that doesn't solve it, having just a few keys that work is a large amount of information and most of the way to cracking the whole problem. If you can tell us which Gateway keys do what function on your DVD we can probably spot a pattern (and/or yet another model somewhere).
Worst case, you can try all 256 commands possible in NEC1 8.230 and see which do what. |

Sure you do. Open IR, download the current extended remote contents, and save the file. Then do a 981 reset on the remote to remove the extender. This will allow you to learn functions from the OEM remote (provided you can find one) and then see how they decode in IR's Learned Signals tab. That should give you the details needed to create an upgrade. Finally, reload the saved extender configuration to the remote, add the new upgrade, and enjoy your new DVD! _________________ Mark |

Rob, with just a quick test. That is VERY close. A couple of miss placed keys and a couple I could not find (like menu) I will give a more detailed report later tonight when I have time to do a detailed test.
Thanks for your help on this. I was just about ready to take the unit back. I might keep it after all
Regards

Hey Pat,
Glad to hear it mostly works. Please do go through all the codes and sort out which ones do what they're supposed to do and which ones are mis-labelled, then fix up the KM file for me.
I noticed that the buttons seem to fall into two ranges of OBC codes, and there were 3 gaps in the first range, which I called mystery1 thru 3 in the KM file, give these a try to see what they do (if anything).
I got this upgrade from UEI, so once you've made your corrections, I'll give it back to them so they can update their database. _________________ Rob

Here is what I have. I have descided to take the unit back as the networking capabilities are not what I was expecting. With newer models coming on the market I think I have better choices to come. If you need any further info about how the unit reacts please let me know ASAP before I sent it back. Most likely this week.
Don't know why the

Pat,
This really doesn't help us because we don't know which functions you assigned to those buttons when you set the code up.
If you can, here's what I'd like you to do. Create an upgrade where you have assigned as many functions to buttons as possible, and keep track of what you have assigned where. If there's not enough available buttons in the upgrade for all of the functions, create a second upgrade which contains all of the remaining functions, including the 3 mystery functions. Then print out a list of what each button is meant to do and test out both upgrades on your DVD player. If a function does what it's supposed to, just check it off, if it doesn't do anything, make a note of that and if it does something totally different, make a note of that too.
Then please post back here the list of buttons that either didn't do anything or didn't do what they were supposed to do, and I'll update the KM file for you. _________________ Rob
