Advanced codes for Yamaha RX-V1300 & RS 2116 remote

I searched similar Yamaha upgrades or advanced codes - non works. I also tried John Wassers search for codes, Yamaha does not responds to any 3 digit codes 000-256. 2116 will learn the codes from Yamaha but I want to replace them with the advanced codes/free up more memory for macros and added functions. Working upgrade for THIS model would be even beter. Thanks for any help/advice - this is my first post and my first experience with JP1.

Yamaha publishes their command sets for you exact model. They are in hex but custom code is what we call device in hex and command code is what we call OBC in hex. All use the NEC1 protocol.

The regular commands are here this is device 122 aka RCVR\0176 or RCVR\1176.

These are the extended commands and use a different device number, 126, and I don't remember whether there is a built in setup code for NEC1:126 but you can always create a device upgrade.

To translate from OBC (first convert "data code" from hex to decimal with MS Calculator, view|scientific), then open IR.exe use Tools|EFC Calculator on put the OBC(in decimal) in the LSB-Comp box. Another way is to use KM Master or RM and set them to use OBC and enter them directly into a device upgrade.

Finally, if you have learned the commands from the OEM remote, in IR under the learned tab, it will translate those into Protocol, device, OBC, and EFC.

Thank you, Jon! That helped - now I upgraded four components including Yamaha without any learning memory use! The only problem I have now is with the remaining two - Mot STB DSR550 and Eastern STB SC996-T105. No setup codes, no advanced codes, no descreet codes - I am going to post it in detail in a new post.

Thanks Jon for your help!

Fulino,

If you have some time, would you mind posting your device code for the RX-V1300 on the Yahoo board?

I recently purchased a RX-V1400 and am having problems converting the command sets.

Thank you,

Tommy

Tommy,

I am not sure that I understand your question.
In the post from Jon Armstrong in this tread is a link to the table with all discrete codes for Yamaha RX-V1300. All codes in the table are in hex, that is device code ("custom code") 7A is 122 in decimal. I converted all hex codes into decimal and used them in the KM Master with the original setup code 704 changed to 1704 after the upgrade. Uploaded to 2116 and all is working just fine.

If you have any more questions let me know or PM me. Hope this will help.

Frank,

Tommy is asking for you to upload your saved KM file to the Yahoo JP1 group. This will save him and future users some steps. Although those steps may seem simple to you, but may be difficult for others less familiar with Hex manipulations.

That's how the Yahoo file group got so many useful KM and RM files.

gjarboni,

thank you for reminding me about uploading the Yamaha KM text file.

Tommy,

just to let you know that the device file for Yamaha RX-V1300 is available in the JP1 /files/device codes/audio section. Hope this will help.
