I want to teach my RS 15-2116 to emulate some of the functions of my ER1 (Scientific Atlanta 3 device). Learning the keys quikly ran out of memory. How do I proceed? Basically, I want the SAT device key on the 2116 to convert the 2116 relevant keys (channels up-down, volume up-down, number keys, info, guide, etc.) to the CBL keys of the ER1.
Thanks

You want:
JP1 for Beginners Rev 1.1
It's the first sticky note in the beginners section.

I read it, and then did the following:
1) Loaded the Scientific Atlanta master file from the Yahoo group to KM
2) Copied the codes from the KM setup to IR's DEVICES space
3) Loaded the results into my 2116.
It did not work, and I suspect that I assigned the wrong device code in IR or somesuch thing. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Should I change anything in the Device Buttons section of IR's GENERAL tab?

Try this guide instead...

If it still doesn't work, do what we tell everyone else to do in this situation, load your files into the Diagnosis Area so we can look at them.
It's absolutely impossible to try and guess which step you might have forgotten or done incorrectly without actually looking at your files. We would need to see your KM and IR files.

When you loaded the file in KM, did you change the selected remote to the 2116?
After copying the code over to IR, did you set the desired device button to the device type/setup code used in the upgrade?

I suspect that the problem is my misunderstanding of the correct sequence that is required. What I want is for the 2116 to emulate some of the functions of the ER1, which is why I loaded the ER1 file into KM. Was that incorrect?

Upgrades are remote-specific, so one for a given remote will not work on another. If you loaded an ER1 file into KM for use in the 2116, then you MUST change the selected remote to the 2116. Also, you'll want to check the Buttons sheet to make sure the functions are assigned to the buttons that best suit your needs.
