JP1 Remotes

OK, just got my JP1 cable in the mail today. Have downloaded some files from the yahoo group and loaded them onto my remote (OFA9910), now I am trying to customize. I read the description of how to program advanced codes, and found the codes I want. Basically, I am looking to add Disc 1, Disc 2, etc to my DVD changer. When I test the advanced code it works, but I cannot seem to program it in. I will make some notes below. Thanks

A. To test a code:


Press and hold SETUP until the screen reads 'CODE SET'.
Scroll down to 'KEY MOVER', hit SELECT.
The screen will read 'FROM MODE'
Press the device button the code is coming from (DVD?)
The screen will read 'FROM KEY'
Press SETUP (don't hold it)
The screen will read 'SYNT'
Enter the 3 digit code, then press SELECT
The screen will read 'TO MODE'
Press the device button the code is going to (DVD again?)
The screen will read 'TO KEY'
Press the button to be assigned (I can use any key?)
The screen will read 'SUCCESS'

Now that you have the jp1 cable you don't have to do any of the steps you outlined above.

1) Using IR, download your current configuration from the remote to IR.
2) Save the configuration so you can always go back to something you know worked.
3) Add the advanced codes on the keymove tab of IR
4) Upload to the remote and give it a try.

Alternatively, you can create an upgrade for the device with either KM or IR to add the codes and save keymove space if it starts to fill up. All of the above is outlined in the jp1 for beginners document in the beginners forum.

Still not working, I suppose I will wait for the link to come back up. If it matters, this is what I was trying for a keymove

DVD Up = DVD DVD 0571 $B3 151

DVD_0571 on the 9910 uses a variant of the Pioneer protocol that uses 2-byte commands, so entering EFC's is not possible. On IR's Key Moves tab, you can enter the 2-byte hex code "73 01" (make sure the Hex Cmd radio button is selected).

Thanks Mark. I tried this, but still nothing. I know it works because the test method works, but I can't execute it in IR. Here is my code

DVD Up = DVD DVD 0571 $73 $01 010* (Use Hex)

When you upload the IR file to the remote does everything else for the DVD still work?

Have you tried learning the button to the 9910 from the original remote to see what it says it should be?

Just for the heck of it try $B0 $01

Yes, and yes (I tried b0 01, nothing doing)

I learned Disc 1 - 4 in the L1 - L4 commands, only problem being that there are 5 discs. I have no idea how to reassign these to different buttons (in my case I am trying for the directional arrows and select).

I realize I need to do more reading, just can't find the right leterature past initial beginner mode and before expert mode. I am a little disappointed this is coming as slow as it is as I am a degreed engineer and have done a fair amount of programming (VB and Basic).

Anyway, thanks for the help so far guys. Somehow I gotta figure out:

1. How to assign random buttons to perform functions
2. How to assign macros to random buttons
3. How to take a learned function and apply it to a different button

Sorry, I looked up the wrong code before. Try "B3 00", "B3 01", or "B3 03" (I think "B3 01" is the correct one).
