Sony SLV-D500P with URC-8090B01

Post by husbandofpottedplant »

Does anyone know why the set of device codes 0864 for a Sony DVD / VCR will not work with the URC8090B01. I did the upgrade with the JP1 cable (which worked great, thanks to all of you) and most of the buttons would not even light the LED on the remote when pushed so I programmed them manually with a key move and now the LED lights, but still no activity on the buttons I am trying to program. Specifically, the directional arrows and enter. Power, the numbers and several other keys seem to work OK. Am I fighting a losing battle with this old remote. I am thinking of a new Philips remote, but hate to give up on this one since it has given me good service thus far. Even with a difficult Sony receiver.

Where did you get the data for DVD/0864? In order for us to see where you might have gone wrong, we would need to see your KM (or RM) file and your IR.exe file. So, could you zip them both together and post them in the Diagnosis Area folder, then come back here and post a link to the file. (Read the sticky about posting links)

Sony_DVD-VCD_Combo.txt is where I got the device code data from. I also tried to decode it from a pronto program file I found which included the model 300P DVD - VCR player, but it included the same codes. Click Here for the IR.exe file and the KM file I am using. Using these files exactly, the LED does not even toggle when pressing the directional keys, menu key and enter key. Thanks. Also, let me know if I have posted something wrong since I have not done this much.

IR.exe wrote:This remote contains a bug that prevents device upgrades from working if they use upgraded protocols.

Workaround: Set up devices that use upgraded protocols as "Device Button Restricted."
Go to IR.exe's Devices tab, select your upgrade and click EDIT, then un-check the box labelled "Include in device independant section as well".

Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with your upgrade.

Thanks for looking at it. I tried that at one point with no success. It was late though so I will try again in case I messed up.

Tried one more time and still not even an LED flash with the directional keys, menu key and several others. By the way, my data that I posted had a number of TV key moves in it. They are all for the Jensen Q2749J TV. I had a hard time figuring them out so I though someone may have use for them as well. They do not seem to come standard with too many remotes.

I split off the discussion about the Jensen TV to it's own thread:
