Sansui Vrdvd 4005
Well first off let me say I am glad to have found this site once again!Been a long while since I was here..
Now,I have the jp1 cable I bought a pretty good while back,I have also d/loaded the latest ir.exe and km files. So hopefully I am halfway back up to speed..
I have the radio shack 15-1994 6 in one learning remote,Rob helped me get it setup for my 7100 dishplayer and it still works like a charm! Now I have a new device that I would like to add to the remote if possible. The device is a Sansui VRDVD recorder model 4005.Problem is I don't have the orginal remote,I looked briefly to see if there was an upgrade already made for it but didn't see what I needed.
I also have the one for all 6012 that has a jp1 slot under the battery cover but I can't get a dump of the remote, not sure if it isn't intended to use that way or not or just a bad connection.I have the pin adapter as the 6012 only has slots not pins.I can read and dump the 15-1994 fine so I believe the connectionshould be ok..
Any help would be very much appreciated!

That's a pretty unusual brand of DVD players, so without an original remote to capture the codes from, you might be SOL.
As for the 6012, it needs 3 parts soldered in...
1) a 6-pin connector
2) an EEPROM chip
3) a wire across JMP2
There is a file in the hardware folder that details how to do the mod.

Yea I have just started to realize how new the Sansui vrdvd4005 is!Can't get a whole lot of info about the remote.e*ay has many of the dvd recorders for sale at a decent price..
I finally found a replacement remote for it hopefully I can get it and load it to the 15-1994 for others.I also noticed at the one for all site they do have a code for the 4005 but only for some of the higher end remotes..
Anyway good to hear from you Robman! Thanks

If you know what the OFA code for it is, tell us, because we can probably look up what codes it uses.

I think there's already an upgrade matching that in the DVD folder. The Tevion_3215
It's in two parts (VCR and DVD) both in this zip
Tevion_3215_DVD-VCR.zip
It also matches the Grundig DVD in this CCF
grundig-1450
I have a couple other possible sources if you're still missing a few keys after those (both those seem to have slightly fewer keys defined than I'd expect). Just tell me which functions seem to be missing.

You need the KM spreadsheet or the RemoteMaster Java program.
Open the KM spreadsheet in Excel (making sure macros are enabled), then press the LOAD button and select one of the txt file for tevion.
After tweaking the upgrade in KM (or RM) it needs to be copied to the clipboard and pasted as a new device in IR.

Thanks Again John!I realized I needed the excel after I posted and referred back to the beginners document.Took foreever to d/load on dial-up but I have it now.
now I think I have all the tools I need..My next question is this..
Can just add the tevion txt to my back up file for the 15-1994?In other words I would like to be able to save all my old remote settings and only change the vcr button for the tevion code..
Sorry for all the questions.Just wanna make sure I don't get too fouled up!

If I understand you correctly, you should open and edit the tevion upgrade in KM (and save it, but don't close yet).fordflare wrote: Can just add the tevion txt to my back up file for the 15-1994?In other words I would like to be able to save all my old remote settings and only change the vcr button for the tevion code..
Open your back up file in IR.
Copy the upgrade from KM to IR and change the VCR setup code on the general tab and then save under a different name (so you still have the old upgrade as well). Finally upload to the remote.
Those tevion upgrades each had very few functions. You probably should use DecodeCCF on the Grundig file to get more functions once you verify that the basic function fit your device. If your dialup is too slow for such things, ask and someone will post the list of functions (though having someone who doesn't have the actual device do it increases the chance of guessing wrong about how function names fit to the way buttons were defined in the ccf).

If you need to make any changes to upgrade then the ms excel viewer won't work for you. However, RM runs on Java and that's free, so you should try downloading RemoteMaster v0.95. You can find Java at java.sun.com.

The general principals of using RM are the same as for KM, but the GUI is different so the screen shots in my doc won't match, but you can still use it as a guide.
