|
|
I have two OFA 8811, which I've used for over a year with all of our equipment, including ReplayTV. I received a lot of help over here when I set them up originally. (Thank you again!)
Now we have a Scientific Atlanta 8000, the DVR cable box. Does anyone have EFC codes so that we can get the SA DVR functionality on the OFA?
Thanks in advance. |

There is a Keymap Master style upgrade in the Files->Device Codes->Cable section that you can take the EFCs from (assuming you are not using JP1?). Note that SA has removed the 30-second skip.

Hi xnappo, thanks for the help!
However, I'm a big fat idiot, and can't seem to find the "files" you're talking about to start me off looking for these codes. Is it on this site, I assume? Is it called something else? Would you mind posting the link for me?
Every place I found SA codes, were just the standard cable buttons, no DVR codes.
Sorry, I'm thick-headed this weekend....
Thanks again! |

Thanks so much! I've been out of town for a few days for a family matter, thrilled to get home and see the codes! I'm getting to work on it now.
Rob, you and your site are the greatest!

Okay, me again, still having trouble.
I am trying to put the codes in, and none of them are working. I have two URC-8811B remotes, and I'm trying on both, so it's obviously operator error.
I am using the 0477 device code overall for the SA 8000. I am then trying to put in codes you so kindly gave me above:
Push Cable button, Set until two blinks, 994, Set, 031 (example), then pause button. Have tried with the list, pause, play, instant replay, fast-forward, none of them are working for me. After the last button is pushed (the function button I'm assigning it to), I'll get two quick blinks on one of the remotes, and just one blink when I do it on the other one. However, neither one will then work with the buttons I'm trying to program.
I also tried switching the device code to 0677. Both device codes work, and keep my basic functions on the ofa, but I can't add these other codes. Is something big staring me in the face that I'm missing?
Thanks for all your help,
Her Ineptitude, Robin, whose husband is getting tired of the remote being out of his hand! |

Not necessarily, there are 3 possible EFCs for each function, and normally it doesn't matter which one you use, but the 0477 code is set up in such a way that only one of the three will work. I thought I had picked the right one, but maybe I didn't.
So, here are three different EFCs for "Power". Try them all out and let me know if any of them work. When I know which one works, I can provide an updated list of EFCs for the other functions:
1) 029
2) 005
3) 021
Also try 013 _________________ Rob

Thanks, Rob.
021 worked for power, none of the others did. |

I just updated the EFC list in my previous post to reflect that then. _________________ Rob

Right, but for some reason the "byte2" code needs to be set to 3 to make them work. I noticed that they were only using the first code, so the original list of EFCs that I posted was based on "byte2" being set to 1. But as you can see from her results testing the EFCs I posted for POWER, only the 3rd set works.
I haven't had a chance to dig deeper yet, but I'm guessing the "byte2" data is getting complimented in KM where it shouldn't be (or vice versa). _________________ Rob

Okay, gang, the codes work!
However, they're only working on the remote I have set up for the other TV, isn't that great! So, I'll have to re-program the TV settings to switch the living room and bedroom.
I've always had trouble with the one remote. When I originally set it up, it wouldn't take any macros, it's always been a little hinky. But, it's worked fine for 7 devices, including Replay.
Today, it would take the "list" code for the SA DVR, I put it on the menu button, and it took "exit". But, it wouldn't take any of the functions like play, pause, record, instant replay. The bedroom 8811 took them all. I'd get the double red light after the codes on the other remote, but just a single red on this one.
Guess I need a new one! I like the looks of the 6131 I saw on the surfremotecontrol.com link. It looked like it might have those a,b,c, buttons on it. We have 7 devices counting our CD jukebox, altho I could live without universal remote for that. I just don't know if the 6131 is better than the 8811 for SA DVR and ReplayTV. I might be better off picking up a new 8810/8811, and just replace the hinky one. We are used to it, using it on both TVs.
I should quit rambling and go start switching the TV codes....
Thanks again,
Robin |

You'll be pleased to know that even one year later, this thread came in handy! Thank you all a ton for providing exactly what I was looking for! I do have one question ... my Time Warner UR5-8400 remote has Day -/+ keys that I do not see mapped in the file or in Robman's post. Does anyone have these EFCs? |

If you're looking at THIS FILE, then the functions you seek are named "Previous Day" and "Next Day", and the EFC's are 025 and 016, respectively.
There has, however, been a bug identified with RM that manifests itself in that protocol (Panasonic (old)) so if you're using KM or EFC's only in RM you ought to be OK, otehrwise, wait for an RM update to work on that upgrade. |
