Need Help Fine Tuning My Macros

hi,
I have enjoyed learning to use JP1 and have had fun programming my urc 8910 remote. It is alot easier than the manual way and I love the flexibilty of experimenting on the fly.

Now I wish to fine tune my macros. I am having difficulty trying to get EFC's to work with the TV's TV, Video 1 and Video 2 commands. My TV is a Panasonic, devices setup code 0250, which turns the TV on and off successfully and also enables other TV functions including the TV/vid button (which cycles betweeen TV, video 1 then video 2 each time that it is pressed). HiFi-Remote.com shows EFC's for the following:
TV 181
Vid 182
Vid 1 185
Vid 2 183
Vid 3 187
Vid 4 180

I used IR to put the new keymoves and EFC's in and assigned them to the pip, move, swap and comskip keys and none of them worked for some strange reason.

I have 4 macros:
M1 turns on the TV and satellite (which requires TV and channel 3).
M2 turns off the TV and satellite (standby).
M3 turns on/off the DVD player (which requires video 1).
Shift M3 turns on/off the VCR (which requires video 2).

If I cannot get dedicated EFC's for each mode (TV, video1,video2) is there some way for the macro to get to a common reference point so I can then put something in like using the TV/vid button once, twice or three times for each macro?

Thanks in advance:)

First off, I don't believe the COMMSKIP button is programmable (but I could be wrong, I've never tried).

You can test these EFCs by using the SETUP+nnn method, ie...

1) Press TV.
2) Point the remote at your TV.
3) Press and release the SET button.
4) Type the 2 digit code.

Don't you mean 3 digits? The EFC's above have 3 digits, or am I missing something?

Yup, we all make typos.

Ok, I tried your trick (which by the way is a nice quick way to try out advanced codes, thanks) and none of the video 1, 2, 3 etc. codes worked.

I tested the menu function (EFC 103) the same way, however, and it worked just fine, so I am wondering how I should proceed from here.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
njb

Success

I found the answer at:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/faq.shtml#[1.28]

I used the tuner as the common reference point to toggle from for the video inputs.

The following macros now work, as I want them to, by adding the following TV and video input commands into the macro (the tuner operates from channel 3):

M1 (turns on the TV and satellite):
TV,Power,3

M3 (turns on/off the DVD player, which requires video 1):
TV,Power,3,3,TV/Vid

Shift M3 (turns on/off the VCR which requires video 2):
TV,Power,3,3,TV/Vid,TV/Vid

Notice that I had to put two channel three commands in (3,3) in order to allow enough of a delay before the TV/Vid toggle would work for the DVD and VCR macros.

Thanks for the assistance:)
