I have adapted an 8 way (2x4) Dupont female housing to accommodate a USB-to-TTL-Serial-Cable which fits the keyed opening on the remote. This involves the adaptation of a 2 X 4 Pin 2.54mm (0.1") pitch Dupont female connector - Using a sharp knife / scalpel carefully pare back the top half of the connector on one side to leave a "locating lug" as shown here:-



The black, yellow, orange and green wires can be carefully removed using a pin or toothpick -
