Just FYI, for anyone trying to help, this appears to be a no-name freelance type of cable box and SAT box DVR used in the UK

https://www.facebook.com/q5hdpvrcablebox/

Here is a user manual for the SAT version:
http://www.techkings.org/attachments/q5 ... doc.12184/

Here's the manual for the cable version:
http://www.techkings.org/attachments/q5 ... pdf.12665/

Here's a thread with general info, but nothing on the remote codes (though there are a few requests there):
http://www.techkings.org/threads/q5-hd-pvr.58981/

So back to the remote question, I think we would need someone to capture a remote in order for us to create a bin file or RMDU file.

Do u have any way to capture the signals from your Q5 remote and post them, in any format?

Typically when we (ie, JP1 remote users) come across a new device, we learn the signals and use the captured info to create remote files and bin files, etc. But we need that source data.

Are you willing to spend $8 to sort this out? If so, buy a One For All OARUSB04G 4 Device Universal Remote on ebay then use it to learn the buttons from your Q5 remote, and we'll take it from there.

Unfortunately it's too expensive to ship to Singapore where I'm at. Will try to source locally something similar. Thanks.

Try cable code 0040. If any of the commands do anything at all, even if they are wrong, that will get us in the ballpark. Not sure how to enter a device code into a sling remote. You'll have to sort that out.

Check ebay or Amazon to see if you can get a OARUSB04G or a Nevo C2 with reasonable shipping rates.

Unfortunately can't find any that's cheap enough to buy from eBay & amazon. Will continue to search for these type of remote locally but I doubt I can find it. Just have to use slingbox w/o control for now. Thanks for the help.

So you tried cable code 0040 and it didn't work?

Ebay has the OARUSB04G for about $42 SGD (about $30 USD) with shipping.

It also has the Nevo C2 for about $31 SGD (about $22 USD)

That doesn't seem too much to get your Slingbox working, and you get a pretty cool remote into the bargain.
