JP1 Remotes

I'm using a RCRP05BR with a Element ELEFW195 led tv set using a setup code of 10178/0178 and I noticed that with the RCRP05BR it seems I can acess what seems to be a "hidden" feature on the Element TV (Feature/Button not available on the remote that came with the TV) which is Last/Prev Ch.

Does this mean I can program the RCRP05BR to acess other features that doesn't appear on the original remote but seems to be supported by the 0178 setup code like Last/Prev Ch?

It is not uncommon to find codes that are not on the original remote.

You can search for functions which aren't included on the original remote by either
1) make an upgrade on NEC1 IR protocol device 4 (see the Lookup Tool linked at the top of this screen to see what IR protocols are being shot by a setup code) with a set of trial OBCs or EFCs
or
2) Systematically manually try each possible EFC in the range from 00000 to 00255. In TV mode, press Setup briefly and then enter a 5 digit EFC. When you press the 5th digit, the IR signal will be transmitted. Start with an EFC of a known working function like Vol+. You can get that EFC from the Lookup Tool.

In any of this seaching for additional functions, consider that the TV may need to be in a specific mode in order for it to respond. For example, the arrrow buttons might only respond if the TV has a menu displayed.

Also note, that a code search can be troublesome for some tvs. You can get into service menus, and on Sharp TV's there is the "Evil K" mode, that is really hard to get out of. Its always fun to find those hidden features, but there can be some risk too.
