Hi,
As already posted in some of my previous and recent posts, I have a URC-7960, a URC-7962 Motion and a couple of URC-7340's.
I would love to be able to substitute the 7960 which is currently with my old folks for the similar 7962, mostly because of its bigger labels and backlighting. Besides having a large wish list for this excellent OFA remote, there is one function that would allow this upgrade promptly. Being able to setup macros on the 3 SmartControl buttons without losing their SmartControl/Activity functions in the end (The older 7960 does this perfectly but has no PowerMacro nor lighting).
Would anyone have any idea on how to achieve this?
I’ve already tried to “adapt” the most recent extender, afaik, from Atlas 1056 B03 (a JP2 remote) as well as messing with the 7962 .RDF and .RMIR files. Nada! My reasoning was that we could at least try a LKP on the 3 SmartControl keys and set the Macros on them.
But messing with LKP SpecialProtocols does not seem a simple task.
I've also tried copying and pasting theses Special Protocols from the very old 1.17d excel and editing new protocols under devices in RMIR 2.03 Alpha 23 (using a Mac). They did not work either.
Other idea:
I noticed the protocols between the 7962 and its old sibling 7960 are not the same.
They also differ to the American version of the 7960, called OARI06G.
Both the 7962 and OARI06G have a PowerMacro feature, which works when in "SmartControl" mode, by pressing the Power Key for more than 2 seconds, which I suppose corresponds to a LKP. Interesting to notice that in SmartControl mode a short press on the Power Key does nothing anyway.
The European 7960 has no PowerMacro (as far as I've tried and besides its printed manual).
Does this mean that the 7962 and the OARI06G both have a LKP protocol factory installed? And the 7960 does not?
And sorry for my unexperienced question!
If this might be true, I've already compared the Protocols listed on these 3 remote RDF files and concluded that the Protocols in common to the 7962 and the OARI06G but not present on the old 7960 are:
0002:5, 010C, 0174 and 01EB.
I hope I have not shoot too far here!
Cheers! |

Hi all,
Have discovered an interesting thing about Macro and Activities on the 7962.
As already posted and differently to the older 7960, the 7962 does not keep the Activity state after programming a Macro on WatchTV, WatchMovie or ListenToMusic keys. After the macro runs, the last device stays on.
But, if you press Magic + ActivityKey (WatchTV for exemple), right after the Macro finishes, the activity key return to its originally intended state.
Actually, always when you press Magic + Any Activity Key it works as well.
The problem is that I can't get it to work inside the macro, programing either with 995 commands or inside KMIR 2.03 a23. I tried putting Magic + WatchTV at the end of the Macro, but it does not work. The last device just blinks longer.
I tried many combinations of Magic and Shift inside KMIR. No go.
If anyone is willing to have Macros and activities working on the URC-7962, this might be a new light.
Cheers. |
