StarCom A7 (satellite receiver) remote code needed
Hi everyone,
This is my first post on the forum.
I am looking for remote codes for a StarCom IA7 Satellite receiver.
Link to Amazon for product details: http://www.amazon.com/Starcom-A7-Digita ... Starcom+A7
Link to manufacturer: http://www.x2sat.com/a7.html
I cntacted manufacturer but was unable to get information.
Basically I need these codes in order for the receiver to wwork with my Slingbox Solo.
I tried all 600 codes within Slingbox installation but none of them work, only couple of them work as a power button, mute and menu...
I spoke with Slingmedia Support and they confirmed that the Slingbox remote learning is not available any more and the only suggestion would be to post here.
Thanks in Advance.

The following codes worked with SlingPlayer App:3FG wrote:It will be helpful if you can tell which code(s) give any kind of response from the receiver (correct command or not). That will narrow the search considerably.
Code 511 - Power (on/off)
Codes 476, 278, 271 and 65 - Mute
Codes 298 - Menu
These were the only codes which actually showed commands.

When you post sling box stuff in a nonslingbox forum it makes it hard for our sling box expert to find. I'll bet 3fg doesn't understand those "codes" any more than I do. I'm going to move this to the sling forum in hopes that Alan might see it and can give us a hint as to what you mean withe these code numbersshavkaca wrote:Any Ideas?3FG wrote:It will be helpful if you can tell which code(s) give any kind of response from the receiver (correct command or not). I'm sorry. The Slingbox I have access to apparently has different code numbers from yours, so my attempts to capture the IR protocol didn't give consistent results.
I just realized that this thread is in the wrong forum. Please post in the Slingbox forum. You have a better chance of getting a response there.

Good morning all.
This isn't going to be easy as the StarCom A7 is not in the Logitech Harmony database so I cannot do a quick learn. The closest it has is the Starcom 8817. That uses the same code as the Audiovox AXDGT08N and we have a Custom Remote for that at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=8929
So give that a try.
Otherwise please explain exactly how you got to install the code 511 so I can do it on my Slingbox.

Thanks Alan for your help.
I tried both codes, the RV was not accepted by my Solo, but PL was.
The power switch did not work, also the right button seems to be working as menu, menu button as - satellite finder and etc.
So again, I am stuck with a non-working remote
Here are pictures of Codes which kind of showed some signs of life:

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Good progress
Both those settings have the same underlying settings (Nec1 Device 0) so that is invaluable to know. The Power button is returning a code of 12. I had 8 Custom Remotes that use that configuration so I hoped one of them would match, but unfortunately none of them had a Menu button using Code 16, which is what showed up.
Now, the good news is there are only 255 possible codes, and we have already figured out 2 of them so only 253 to go
So what I will do is produce a complete Custom Remote using the other code numbers. The first one is at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=12379 and covers codes 0-44.
So what I want you to do is install that BIN file, then press EVERY button on the remote (including the 15 Custom Buttons you access by right-clicking on the remote image and selecting Custom). Then tell me which buttons work and what function each one operates.
Remember if you are looking for the Down Arrow, for example, it is no good looking when the normal TV is showing, you need to go into a Menu of some sort where the Down Arrow would actually show. So you will have to test all the buttons on various screens,
Make sense ?

No you are stuck with a partial working remote, and that is a HUGE difference.shavkaca wrote:Thanks Alan for your help.

Alan is going to need some more feedback.
Basically he needs a list of what every button is doing so far, then he can assign them to the correct buttons.
Then you guys can go on a search for the missing buttons.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

well, this seems to have most codes in it (the updated version of C2010_PL.BIN 0-44):
info > volume down / left
channel + > mute
channel - > red button (add channel)
page + > menu
1-9 > work as channels 1-9
last > power on/off
power > power on/off
stop > green (autoscan)
skip backard > Channel down / down
skip forward > exit
0 > enter
OK (central button) > volume up / right

info > volume down / left
channel + > mute
channel - > red button (add channel)
page + > menu
1-9 > work as channels 1-9
last > power on/off
power > power on/off
stop > green (autoscan)
skip backard > Channel down / down
skip forward > exit
0 > enter
OK (central button) > volume up / right
